In Vermont

Meanwhile in NYC

And over in Europe, Norway to be precise.

Excellent. Vance, Musk and Trump don’t deserve a moment of peace anywhere, ever. From now until the day they die.

If they get a ceasefire at some point then Russia will re-arm and come back again for more.

But what if at the same time Europe and Ukraine re-arm more than Russia ?

In an arms race a committed Europe would swat Russia away easily. The key is for Europe to be committed. I think we have got the message now.
It would be easier to defeat them now

One part of me says there's no way on this earth we should be allowing Trump in this country, let alone welcome him & morally I'd like to sign the petition.
However, I want to have him come here, get no 'pomp & pageantry' through London as the Palace is closed for renovations. Be flown by helicopter (I want to put choppered but that would be distasteful) & land where KC is waiting to 'slap him down' (those were similar to the Russian guys words) in front of the worlds media.
I don't know how true this is, but apparently Americans love our royalty.
I can't see Charles pushing Trump on the arm like Trump did to Zelensky during that 'meeting' (it was slight but he did it). He'd be able to 'slap him down' though, it would just be a whole lot more subtle.
In fact I'd like him to be met by William as well at the same meeting. A chat with Charles & William with Trump (on his own) broadcasted live to the entire world & see how Trump gets on.

Edit to add. I'm going to be interested to see what happens to the dollar when the market reopens.

Agred. Let the c*** come here and we'll show him how much we "like" him.

I’ve not seen any comments from our Frog faced friend Farage on his besties behaviour.
Surely as a proud Brit he can’t support the fat orange one.
Gone a bit quiet hasn’t he?
He just called it a spat in the White House. He’s desperately trying to play it down.

Well, Starmer has gone on the front foot right from the first whistle.

He and Macron have agreed with Zelenskyy to draw up their own peace plan and present this to Trump.

I’d guess they’ll be asking other European leaders to contribute to this in today’s summit.

Excellent leadership. Excellent strategy - take the initiative away from Trump. Force him to make the choice on Europe’s terms.

To his credit, Starmer is doing a lot better than I expected him to on Ukraine.

From our favourite political scientist and game theorist. I'm not going to try and summarise for you, but the video has links to each question he addresses, so you can jump to what interests you the most. Just to say, he does reference previous video discussions and Game Theory concepts to explain his reasoning, but doesn't explain the mathematical modelling behind them - those are in his more general videos, which are still all eminently watchable.

I've listened to that piece now. Very interesting, and provided a different perspective than a lot of the mainstream media (unsurprisingly).
Key takeaways for me (IMO):
- all is not lost in the transatlantic relationship
- the US still supports NATO, and Europe remains a key trading partner
- the US wants to 'sort' Europe so it can pivot and focus on China and the Pacific.
- the idea in the 'deal' of having US companies and contractors in Ukraine (for exploration, extraction, reconstruction) may well work as a deterrent to Russia and, also MAY be the security backstop that Ukraine/Europe is seeking. The US is more likely to respond if it's economic interests (in Ukraine) are at risk, than just because of something on a piece of paper. Also, the exploration, extraction, reconstruction deal is clearly multi year (or decade)
- Zelenskiy needs to be better advised as to how to play the game with Trump.

It was good, and this thread needs these different perspectives (IMO). Big thanks for posting 👍🏼 👍
