Going against the grain I think we should keep the invitation and boo him, as a Nation, at Cucurella levels every time he is seen in public whilst here
My view as well. He’ll turn up expecting a heroes welcome and the country from the king down gives him a biblical load of grief. TBH, I’m not convinced he’ll come as he’ll not be able to control the narrative but mainly because he’s a coward.

Do they not? I thought they had a neutral stance on it all? Until recent escalations? lol
There’s history between them as well.

Back in the day, Crimea was part of the Ottoman sphere of influence, as was Georgia and parts of Ukraine. Russia annexed Crimea in 1783 but there are still Turkic people there to this day. The Ottomans were central to the Crimean War on the side of Britain (the Charge of the Light Brigade). They fought against Russia in WW1.

A lot of that is distant history, but the context still applies - Russian expansionism is always likely to be seen by Turkey as a threat to them.

Looks like we’ve upset him 😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉

From the BBC

US President Donald Trump - not in attendance at this weekend's European summit - has taken to his Truth Social platform to warn that less time should be spent "worrying about Putin".

More time, he writes in the early hours on his social media platform, should be spent "worrying about migrant rape gangs, drug lords, murderers, and people from mental institutions entering our Country".

He adds that this would ensure "that we don’t end up like Europe".

Alternative reality pocket 🤦🏻‍♂️

Newmarket.
Sly old Putin's puppeting Trump, feeding him his divisive lines and the gullible orange twat is revelling in his apparent senior statesmanship whilst blissfully unaware.
Putin is happily weakening and dividing the USA, maybe with a view to encouraging it into civil war and the thick gormless uro enthusiast obliges obliviously.

I expect we'll hear some ridiculous huge Putin inspired statement from the flabby red in the bed this week. He's just got to be in the news.

That's worth highlighting and repeating.

'and people from mental institutions entering our Country'.

There it is again. This cropped up elsewhere a few days ago. Incredibly, no, this is beyond incredibly, he is confused by people who are seeking asylum, and people who are in mental asylums.

Either nobody corrected him the first time, or if they did, he ignored them or doesn't remember them doing it.

The funny thing is that whilst he is weakening the US he is strengthening Europe. He needs a weaker Europe and not a stronger one, so it has to a certain extent backfired. Which is nice!

I’m now convinced that we’ve run out of suitable adjectives to describe Trump and his presidency..we’re gonna need a bigger lexicon.
And all this after only two months.

What the hell is Mandelson doing here?

I think that Ukraine should be the first to commit to a ceasefire and defy the Russians to follow.

What are you talking about?!! Russia invaded. Zelenskyy has said, again and again and again, that he wants a ceasefire that includes insurance to stop Russia breaking it AGAIN.

We have supposedly serious people talking about a ceasefire as if they met on neutral ground for a bit of a dust up.

Perhaps he’s been consuming too much US news.

Peter Mandelson in the Guardian:

Mandelson said there was a need for a “very radical reset” after Trump and his vice-president, JD Vance, berated Zelenskyy in the Oval Office on Friday.

“The reset has to consist of the United States and Ukraine getting back on the same page, President Zelenskyy giving his unequivocal backing to the initiative that President Trump is taking to end the war and to bring a just and lasting peace to Ukraine,” Mandelson said.

“And the Europeans too, they need to back the calls for a ceasefire, and – by the way – I think that Ukraine should be the first to commit to a ceasefire and defy the Russians to follow.”

A Labour spokesperson said this is NOT the Government’s position….. whyever not?

Amazing. Won't say that Putin's invasion and war crimes are morally wrong. Blames it on the expansion of Nato but then won't say it was wrong of countries to join Nato.

America had gone mad and facts no longer matter there.
The twist that had me spluttering my tea across the room was when he asked about Russia invading and “…but that was THREE YEARS ago!”

Mandelson is suggesting everyone double down on the existing, unworkable plan.

Apparently he thinks that’s what qualifies as a “very radical reset”.

Because it makes Ukraine AND Europe look weak and it would also bolster the Russian position.
Is he not going to be the UK ambassador to the US , if so it may be case of distancing himself and playing a bit of a game with the Trump circus.
