Worthing
One of the most galling things for me is how Trump pretends he is impartial - between Ukraine and Russia (which is bad enough!) but it's patently untrue when he literally never criticises Putin. C*** sucker!
I’d love to think he is doing this to improve US/Russian relations but he wouldn’t do that would he ? So what’s he doing or does he not know ?

Suspect this might be an unpopular viewpoint, but I don’t think Zelensky handled that very well. Telling Trump what to do is never going to go down well. He needed to play to his ego and manipulate him though it. Like Starmer did yesterday. A lot harder to do in your third language, I fully accept.
He could barely even speak because Trump kept cutting him off and speaking over him. I personally think he handled it well

Remember that it was only last week that Trump called Zelensky a dictator, why should Zelensky just let the two of them bully him?

Agree with this but I think the US provides weaponry Europe doesn't have

True, but we can buy it from the US. They still want to sell their arms.

But there needs to be a European alliance, at whatever cost. 300b should do it over 4 years Russia will have no army left and their economy will be more fooked. This is going to be a big problem, US is no way going to give more weapons, and I suspect US are gonna lift their sanctions on Russia.

😥

He’s been fighting a war for three years against a far bigger nation that wants his country wiped off the map. And now he’s hearing lies from the US that he started it.

No way is this on him, FFS.

Zelenskyy should insist any future talks be multilateral.

Appalled
Shan't watch - I've read the reports on what was said - it will make me too angry. And I shall be clocking off from this thread for a while too, lest my anger should lead me to cause any bother (although the only people it could offend would be the c**ts who support Trump, Putin and dictatorship - but they're the sort of c**ts who might threaten to close NSC down if they're offended).
P.S. I hope The King cancels the state visit.

Why the f*** have we invited that **** for a state visit. It beggars belief.
Starmer fell into the trap. Suck up to Trump. It’s splashed all over the world that UK and US are close allies, then Trump shi+s on Zelenskiy which makes it look like Starmer is seeking a diplomatic solution and Ukraine are just ungrateful grabbers.

Zelenskyy bullied and shouted down every time he tried to explain and answer.

Playing right into Putin’s hands ……. Until the next twist???

I just watched in draw dropping disbelief. And my first instincts are seemingly widely conveyed on twitter.

JD Vance is a f***king tw*t and he alone was the culprit. Zelensky carried the weight of his nation, he stood up for, politely but firmly for the truth about the reality of Putin and his breaking of all agreements, then Vance ambushed him, humiliated him and pushed all of Trumps buttons.

Zelenskyy was still trying to simply answer the BS of Vance, politely and they both harangued him, saying he's not grateful enough.... grateful for US over inflating the value of its weapons supplies and demanding minerals to pay it back.

And Zelensky was right, that maybe the US will feel it back one day, which Trump took such offence against..... If Putin gets Ukraine, he will go for baltics. And when he does its article 5.

One of the most significant news events of our lifetimes and caused entirely by Elon Musks VP plant.
Article 5 without the US though you wpuld think, Nato feels worthless in its current guise

My god that was unbelievable. I didn't think I could hate the man anymore than I already did, but I certainly do.
Essentially bullying Zelensky, trying to intimidate him. Trump loves a bit of Blackmail.
Time for us Europeans to wake up and up our game. Up taxes to pay for additional support. Put a stop to it all asap rather than wait for Putin to go after other countries. The orange man is in Putins pocket.

I’m not saying it is on him. Trump and Vance are utter ****s. But I don’t think Zelensky played that right at all.

As Zelensky makes his way home, he may be replaying it in his mind, and asking himself if he could have done better.

But I don't believe there is anything he could have done that would have changed the outcome. That was an ambush. Nailed on.
I dont think Trump did though. Vance deliberately intejected, threw out BS and when Zelenskyy articulated why Putin cant be trusted, as he's violated all previous agreements, Vance ambushed him, changed the narratives about being ungrateful etc and like a wife who knows exactly how to manipulate us fellas!, It looked like Vance was both playing to the gallery and deliberately pushing Trumps buttons.
