Every morning when I wake up, I check my phone, to see who has posted what on here, and I find that Cunning Fergus has posted another polemic on the futility of facing up to Russia.

I know it's obviously a very tricky situation for Macron, but I would love so much to see him (or anyone ffs!) pull him up in front of the press on the most blatant attempt at extortion anyone has ever seen. It's absolutely mental, yet absolutely no-one has properly questioned him on it yet - Macron just sat there while he again shamelessly talked about wanting the rare earth minerals etc. Absolutely infuriating!
Although not pulling up Trump on the rare earth deal directly Macron did however very strongly make the point that reparations should be paid by Russia and not Ukraine, while Trump sat there with his glum toad face.

Given Trump's thin skin and vindictiveness in response to anyone who disagrees with him Macron had to be very diplomatic as Ukraine might have borne the brunt of Trump's vindictiveness.

I thought Macron made his point very well because I think everyone knew what he was referring to without him having to actually say it.

Is that why he doesn't post on here later in the day? Because he's back home from the bot farm and on the vodka?

We need a 'is Cunning Fergus a Russian' tracker, based on his posting times.

Calling @Giraffe

You would never, in a month of Sundays, guess what he REALLY spends the rest of his day doing having read his posts.

There's a few on here that know, and that's all I'm saying :lolol:

You used Vietnam as a comparison not me

Yes I did, and then you said that there would be more deaths because two armies are fighting across open terrain, but I've pointed out that Ukraine aren't fighting this like ww1, and Ukraine aren't suffering that many casualties.

the only real comparative metric for potential casualties is what is happening there now, and it’s involved tens of thousands on both sides. Yes, we agree Russia has taken many more.

Ukraine have 900,000 soldiers and are getting a couple of hundred casualties a month, 50 per week (including injured). If we had 30,000 soldiers, at the same rate we'd get less than 2 per week.

In the Falkland’s it’s 255 dead and 775 injured, so over 1000 casualties, predominantly naval personnel. If you want to ignore the injured numbers that’s fine, however an injury may well as be a death in terms of fighting capacity.

Yes but we weren't talking about fighting capacity, we were talking about the public's stomach for the war.

From what I can see Ukraine has suffered circa 70k dead and 250k injured, so circa 300k in total

Source?

Does he go and troll mumsnet? Strangle small furry animals? Torment roadkill that isn't quite dead yet?

Spill the beans. All we want is a clue. A sign. Anything. Please.....

Putin offers to sell minerals to Trump, including from Russian-occupied Ukraine

My concern with this is if Trump sees Europe protecting Ukraine from his attempted pillage, he’ll throw his weight fully behind Putin.
The European leaders need to keep him on board by letting him think he’s getting what he wants for as long as possible.

I felt the same - Macron walked the tightrope as well as could be expected in a room full of Trump acolytes 👍

It's crazy how far we've come...Europe needing to bend over backwards to keep Trump (President of the free world, lead country of NATO, our allies for decades) on board as long as possible. This is fxcking mental.
