PS:
What do we mean by 'Russian asset'?
The word asset means something useful. So when we use this term it simply means that Trump is useful to Russia. This is undeniable fact, whether he was actively recruited or not. For whatever reason, Trump sees his duty as furthering Russia's agenda. Amazing when you think his formative years and young adulthood were spent during the Cold War and intense American Russophobia.

Sorry to keep harping on about this!
My under@tanding is that, as you say, he is useful to Russia because they have influence over him, possibly/probably through blackmail, and has been in their pocket for decades, like a sleeper ready to be activated.
He's not a Russian spy but a useful idiot.

I really hope they get Macron on the phone for a debrief before Starmer heads out there. He’s been saying the right things, but repeated refusals by ministers today of opportunities to correct his lies is nagging at me. Are they too nervous about offending him?
There was a good BBC article about how thin skinned the orange one is, so as we need them on our side currently, we probably need to hold back a bit. But then again, he needs to be told.

Here's the Macron /Trump Oval Office exchange in full...

I got to 8.30 & had to stop watching!
Who the f**k does he think he is!!!:mad::mad:
I still don't actually understand how he is going to bring about peace and stop the fighting. He never actually says. All he talks about is the deal with Ukraine. He was asked about Russia paying, Russia handing back some land - and he just rambled about it being close and on the table. And it's going to stop in a few weeks. And when there is a ceasefire - that will be the end of it, because once they have stopped they won't go back to fighting......

I agree.

I don't think ministers should speak ahead of Starmer's meeting, because that will just get Trump against Startmer before the meeting has a chance. There's nothing to be gained from just having a spat of words. The evidence so far is that Trump is a Putin fan boy and wants nothing to do with America's European allies, and Trump doesn't want the US to be a democracy anymore. If that's true, then it makes no difference whether Starmer has a go at him or not, we'll have nothing to do with America.

But if it's not true (and we hope it's not), then it's best if Starmer doesn't burn bridges, and leaves room for America to still behave like an ally.

Agree with you fully on that. It does make sense. My anxiety is more just the sense that we can’t afford for this to go wrong.

He doesn't know. All he's doing is blab on about minerals & how it wouldn't have happened if he was president & how he's going to stop WW3. There may have been something meaningful he said after 8.30 but I do like my pc screen!!

I want to see the "golden showers" tape recorded in a Moscow Hotel.
If that's your thing. But I'm sure there's probably a lot of similar stuff you'd enjoy more than Donald Trump in such a disposition.

He’s just like a school bully. The best way to stop him is to make him look the idiot he obviously is.
