That's a lot of discussion for a three-day Special Military Operation...

Slightly off topic but if anyone hasn't watched the recent excellent BBC documentary series "Corridors of Power" about US foreign policy actions (or, too often, inactions) since the end of the Cold War, the episodes covering Serbia and Kosovo are extremely relevant to the Russian mindset

Available on iPlayer and worth watching as a series, it's a tough watch at times and quite graphic in the footage so not for the faint hearted
That's my next depressive binge watch sorted then 👍. But you are right...the reality of history is frequently a tough watch.

I don't think the Russian people choose to be stupid. The media is controlled by a bunch of self serving psychotic genocidal nazis. The Russian people need to see St Moscow and St Petersburg ablaze. Then they will realise that their great tzar and his cronies have no interest in them, and that their modus operandi is to regain historic territory and destabilise the west, irrespective of carnage inflicted upon Russian citizens and the wider world.
Well, I think most of their older population choose not to think for themselves. It's decades of their own state propaganda. Sadly I think nothing will change their minds, not even setting their cities ablaze.

It needs a complete change of Russian leadership and attitude, and then l think only their younger generations may change.
Failing that, complete economic destruction so they can't do much damage for a decade or two.

Well, it was going to happen. Ukraine have hit the Druzhba oil pipeline at Novozybkov in the Bryansk region, east of Belarus.

This is upstream from where the pipeline is split into the Northern Druzhba pipeline (feeding Belarus, Poland and Germany), and the Southern Druzhba pipeline (feeding Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic).

Ukraine have previously stopped the transit of Russian gas through Ukraine on 1 January.

Now that we are talking about Russian mindsets etc, this might be a good time to introduce a new Youtuber to the forum.
Her name is Elvira Bary, born in Russia and an author. She is quite engaging, if slightly unhinged.

She speaks of the feudalism that governs Russian society, the existence of a social pyramid and the modern Russian nobility. Access to the kormushka, or feeding trough is determined by whether you are born into it, or patronage. She ends up with an account of Margarita Simonyan's meteoric career rise to head of RT at age 25.

She has another video about propaganda, which I have not watched yet.

That was interesting- well done for finding it
