I have reservations about McKenna. If we poach him now, then can't help feeling we'd get what we deserved if he proved not to be up to it in the Premier League. No better than Chelsea taking Potter. When we brought in GPot, he'd only really shown some potential.

I loved RDZ , but he was actually well backed, couldn’t cope with the injury crisis - and wouldn’t take responsibility for the many defeats (blame being directed all over including unwisely his boss). So ultimately we fell short this season - those away thumpings at Villa, Roma, Luton, Bournemouth and Fulham all sealed his fate. And the meek defeat at Wolves in the FACup was very unlike imperial phase Zerbi. He’s still a good coach and the way he develops young players, entertains and outwits coaches won’t go away. And blimey you can’t fail to fall in love with the bloke which makes all this really hard. So good luck to a Bologna or a Bayern but I
think Bloom/Barber had had enough.

DeZerbi has been good for us.

He came in as an unknowing quantity and his first season was brilliant, couldn’t have been much better.

But, he seems to believe his own publicity, TB has made another good decision here, so, bye bye Roberto, thanks for the memories.

To be honest, I was more gutted when Coppell went to Reading.

His two seasons gave us 6th, we sold the stars and played 8 extra games, yet he got us mid-table.

From the 14th highest payroll in the PL.

His CV is enhanced, hugely.

Here's what I don't understand.

What's in it for us to cancel his contract? There's all these jobs coming up, Man U, Munich, Juve, probably several other similar roles. All of those would have paid us millions to end his contract.

And I don't buy the answer that he would have downed tools like a sulky 22 year old. That would be career ending for him.

We received 20 plus million for Potter, and yes that was a once off, but RDZ's contract had a very significant value to us. Potter's star was never as high as RDZ's is

I totally see what's in it for him. I don't see what's in it for us.

Even if we've got someone lined up, and they agree to come, we've just sacked off millions of pounds. And if we were the sort of club who was happy to burn millions of pounds, RDZ probably wouldn't be leaving anyway

Would suspect any team he joins in the next 6 months would have to pay some kind of compensation if they want him. Would imagine we are still paying him as well.

He has been gobbing off a bit last couple of months and blaming poor form on not getting enough bodies in back in January. Maybe been seen to be too unstable. Or perhaps been tapped up.

For me, we played some of the best football I've ever seen us play under his management; plus got to Europe for the 1st time.

That said, once injuries hit and we started losing he wouldn't change tactics and as such seldom had a plan B.

If RDZ is asking for more than the club can provide then a parting of the ways is the right decision all round.

I’m filled with confidence. I’ve loved (most of) RDZ’s time here, but managers move on just like players do.

I wish him all the best, he’s a fantastic coach, and I hope he finds an owner he’s more aligned with, just not in the PL.

I think De Zerbi's just a natural journeyman.

There's nothing wrong with that, but there's no point in investing all your hopes and dreams in the idea that he'll be around for 6years or whatever, because it just isn't going to happen.

Great while he was here though. In some ways I'm more impressed with [some of] what he's done this season than with last season, since I think the team and squad was pretty much good enough to finish where it did last season, while with the players sold and the number of injuries this season could have been a much more of a lottery.

I guess it is time for us and you to move on, and progress independently so the memories don’t sour.

I had been texting and trying to cheer up a friend who is at Koln today and his team are relegated with a transfer embargo until January, he is fearful they may drop through bundasliga 2, so things could be worse.

All very well but he has already said we will start next season without 3 big players and can understand if he was insisting on getting some established players in to go with our youngsters.. Surely people dont think we have a hope of top ten with this squad.
