Rio has a pop at Ashley Cole

have we signed a darkie? If so that's fine by me as long as he isn't left handed and/or takes the rounded edge off his boiled egg in the morning. Oh and he better prefer Led Zeppelin to Earth Wind and Fire. Otherwise I swear I'll do time.

Rio's perespective on this is that Cole hasn't called it as he has seen it and has acted out of loyalty to him mate. This means (in Rio's view) that he has allowed racism to remain in the game and not stood up for his fellow black people to fight racism, rather stood up to the racist. I don't like the inference that all white people are racist but can understand where he is coming from. Maybe he reaslised this inference later and deleted his comment accordingly.

This is all based on Rio's assumption of Terry's guilt and Cole's knowledge of his guilt all of which I am not sure we will ever know as the evidence is inconclusive.
It is hilarious watching the usual suspects on here, furiously trying to make excuses(sadly including to themselves) for ferdinand plainly laughing at a racist term, face up to it , your naive assumptions about a lot of black people and how they view the world are just that, naive assumptions.

This isn't racist (illl judged maybe). Is saying someone is black on the outside but white inside racist) I'm afraid to a lot of you this is more Man Utd player baiting for the sake of it. Get over it.

As for being a trouble maker, surely he is just sticking up for what he believes rather than doing a 'FIFA' or 'EUFA' and turning a blind eye on the actual issue, does the message from pastor Martin Niemöller not ring true?

Not much difference between your views on white people who oppose racism of the anti-black kind and Rio's view of Cole supporting Terry. You're both trying to fight a one-eyed partisan battle based on sticking up for your own allegiance to a race / ethnicity no matter what.

I think everyone should be in agreement that the UEFA and FIFA stance on racism is a joke with no real action taken.

Terry has been found not guilty, surely posting anything on Twitter (regardless of whether it is removed soon afterwards) depending on content should be regarded as bringing the game into disrepute.

I think the other interesting issue for me is whether the FA take action against Terry and on what grounds.... if he's been found not guilty by a jury, swearing/sledging is rife on the pitch, what is he going to be charged with.

Personally I find both of them repulsive individuals and hope that the FA's campaign against racism is able to recover.

@rioferdy5: What I said yesterday is not a racist term. Its a type of slang/term used by many for someone who is being fake. So there.

Brain dead.

On this, he is right, though.

I think Edna's point is an interesting one, as neither Rio nor Cole are "black" - they were both born to white mothers. Why should Rio identify solely with the black part of his heritage ?

The first part of your post is totally correct, the second isnt, why would i stick up for my race "no matter what" ? The only reason the first part is correct is because i've seen enough to know the majority of blacks i've grown up with have exactly the same views as rio, a shame, but true.

Bringing the game into disrepute? Ungentlemanly conduct?

What when he's been found not guilty? Ungentlemanly conduct for swearing that was caught on TV - players are always swearing.....

To be clear I don't like or condone what Terry has done or how he handles himself, but there needs to be transparency and consistency in any disciplinary measures....

Does Rooney get fined every time he is caught swearing on TV? Greer yesterday swore very loudly in the warm-up when a pass went astray - where do we draw the line?
