This isn't racist (illl judged maybe). Is saying someone is black on the outside but white inside racist)
Yes of course, that's the point.
I'm afraid to a lot of you this is more Man Utd player baiting for the sake of it. Get over it.
Speak for yourself. I've always liked Rio playing for England, great defender. I'd say the same if he played for Brighton. And I'm not blowing this out of proportion, I'm simply saying that what he's said is racist. When you're being derogatory about someone, and you use someones race/colour, that's racist.

As for being a trouble maker, surely he is just sticking up for what he believes
To do that he just needs to say 'I'm really disappointed with the verdict, I felt that Terry was being racially offensive and I think he's got of due to a lack of evidence.' Being racist himself on a public forum is not the way to stand up for what he believes in.

He tweeted it. He didn't write it, but he appeared to condone it or at least find it funny.
Actually I think he did write it Baz. Someone else wrote it first, then he wrote 'choc ice is classic hahahahahahha'. The idiot didn't even put a comma after 'classic'.

On this, he is right, though.

but he's not. i can only think comes from the mentality that non-whites cant be racist. he is being racist without even realising it. would it make any sence for a white person to call another white person a "choc ice" because they were "being fake". bollocks it would.

Does he know what a comma is and if so where to use one?

What when he's been found not guilty?

Both have openly admitted to goading each other and repeatedly calling each other a ****. This is more than simple swearing and there are various rules which this falls foul of. Both should get bans for this in my opinion.

Does Rooney get fined every time he is caught swearing on TV? Greer yesterday swore very loudly in the warm-up when a pass went astray - where do we draw the line?

Swearing is one thing, openly admitting to goading an opponent different.

Indeed. It surprises me how many people here don't know what racism is.

Goading/sledging whatever you want to call it goes on in most sports (cricket, basketballl have even seen it at badminton). Did UEFA act when Ronaldo wound Rooney up?

Sol Campbell apparently always just used to ignore it and smile, which is probably the best way to act.

Its not right but is prevalent in most sports.....

I'm sorry but what went on between Ferdinand and Terry needs to be stopped. End of.

I do agree, but can't see how the FA can act unless they apply any disciplinary measures consistently and such is the extent of goading/sledging they have got their work cut out.....

Rio is a twat,,,but then so are all the others as well. At least Terry has never been banned for drugs(well not yet) although Rio has never shagged his team mates missus(well he is an ugly fucker, even if he is loaded)....all a load of bollocks.

Which is a tad surprising given his Dad's record !

Racism:

1 the belief that each race or ethnic group possesses specific characteristics, abilities, or qualities that distinguish it as inferior or superior to another such group.

So if a black or mixed race person is called a coconut or choc ice, are they being accused of being inferior because they are allegedly black on the outside but white on the inside?

Fair enough but the rules are already in place and if a clear cut case like this presents itself then they need to act. And consistently act if other cases present themselves.

Thank you.

And to answer the question, I would say 'no.' Cole is accused of being a turncoat / disloyal / not what he seems / fake. There is no implication that white people are in any way inferior, but that Cole is, simply for being different on the inside to outside.

Similarly, someone white calling someone else who is white a 'wigga' is not necessarily racist. On its own it's not saying black culture is inferior, but that the person who is white that is showing allegiance / liking for black culture is somehow being fake by trying to forget their own white roots.

I see what you are saying, but combined racist slurs vs the implications behind them, is blurring the lines very much like the verdict on Terry.
Did he use racist slurs in a derogatory way? Yes, but the judgment is calling it 'healthy verbal baiting' so in no way is Terry a racist.
So if he shags a black lass, he is immune from being called a raist, just like a black rapper or pimp using white whores and calling them that.
Then ALL derogatory epithets are available, regardless of how bad, because of the record of the user around other races. In that way, there's almost no such thing as racism except among KKK or Black Power supremecists!

 Nowhere does Rio say he's a turncoat, fake, or disloyal. So you think Rio is saying Cole is different on the inside - the example he used therefore means that being white inside is different to being black, which is exactly this:
Racism:

1 the belief that each race or ethnic group possesses specific characteristics, abilities, or qualities that distinguish it as inferior or superior to another such group.

Similarly, someone white calling someone else who is white a 'wigga' is not necessarily racist. I'm sorry, you do not understand racism. Being derogatory to someone by calling them a white n***** is racist. Now of course the N word is often used between black friends etc, in a non racist way, and I'm sure some white people use wigger in the same way, but that's not what we're talking here.

You also talk about culture, but Rio and Ashley were born in London. There just wasn't a need to bring colour or race into the criticism of Ashley.
