It seems that some of the football we are playing is unbelievably long ball and direct, and I honestly elieve we have the players in our squad to pass the ball, keep pocession and look like a quality outfit.

However, WHY or why do we have to play the needless 60 yards high balls out of defence. I didnt go against Bristol Rovers, but I was tod and have read numerous posts on here saying we keep humping it forward.

Even when they were down to 10 men we kept doing it, but when it finally clicked, we played keep ball and scored a second goal, and we looked good, and Virgo looked like a central midfielder. Surely just because McLeod isnt in the team we dont have to keep trying these hopeful long ranger balls. It very rarely works and it takes out the best attacking attributes of Forster and Murray.

From the Crewe game Elphick was the worst culprit and yesterday Richards was doing it. It winds me up because these players are better than that.

BUT all the time we are doing this, we do look solid at the back and have gone 3 games unbeaten and getting results. Which I think is what the number one priority is.

I think people are starting to recognise we are not going to be champagne footballists under Adams, which everyone thought we would be, but we are playing a game which means we are not loosing.

Are people prepared to sacrifice the entertaining football in place of winning games?

To get out of this league, I'll take results.

Second

I don't want the team to click to early just yet, but the signs are very good.

I think what is becoming clear is that the people outraged at Wilkins sacking are having to eat some humble pie and admit it may just have been the right decision. Who knows Richie Morris may even re apply for this season ticket at this rate.

Results.

You don't get points for artistic merit in football, so good performances have to be taken as secondary to putting 3 points on the board. Of course in an ideal world, we'd be winning every week and playing suberb champagne football, but we don't live in an ideal world.

I feel a lot better on a Saturday night knowing that we have secured 3 points than playing well with nothing to show for it!

Surely the start of the season is all about getting points in the bag whilst gelling new players together. Soon though i'm sure Micky will get the team playing well.

We should be aiming to entertain and get results. I have no interest in watching old Wimbledon style football. Quite why you have to have one or the other is beyond me. If it's long hoof football and we won 1-0 every week I'd soon lose interest. The only thing that will fill Withdean is a winning AND entertaining team. This squad looks capable of that to me.

Mendoza about your comment on Elphick hoofing it up the field, I think that is the type of defender he is. He is probably our best defender but lacks the flair that Lynch has.

That is why I'd like to see lynch playing there, offers pace, good touch and movement instead of no nonsense defending.

entertaining football is a luxury, getting results is always the main aim. Adams was known for some good football in his earlier spell, so hopfully the longer vision plan is to get point son the board, settle down then play a bit more flair as the season goes on.

I don't think Adams has told them to go out their and play hoof-it football. The way we played in the 2nd half is obviously much closer to the type of football he wants. We all want to see good football but I'd rather play badly and win, than play well and lose.

I quite like us winning NASTY and all the opposition fans whinging about us. Adams has brought a bit of STEEL to the side, I like having a few characters in there who can MIX IT.

That's exactly right-who cares how we achieve the result so long as we don't lose. Let opposition fans have a bleat that they were the better team but lost-who gives a toss what they think? We'll have the three points-you lot can have a good frigging moan as we move up the table.

There is clearly a more combative attitude in the team-no team is going to bully points off of us this season, They are going to have to work for them.
