I'm sure i read somewhere all 20 teams objected in the end? Can't remember where, maybe one of the newspapers ???

It alluded to that on the BBC, I think that all clubs found it preerable to play games at home and away, however if it was ulitmately neutral grounds or no restart the majority accepted that the neutral option was better than nothing, only when it appeared that the bottom 6 were set to vote against restart on the neutral grounds view and only one more would probably null and void the whole season did they all come around to trying to persuade the government to re-look at its position (plus the fact the Bundesliga is playing home and away and is imminently restarting may have helped).

The authorities will be desparate to get the season restarted and, just as importantly, finished. Because if they don't, someone is going to have to make decisions that could well end up with lots of people losing a lot of money in Court cases (other than the lawyers, of course).

The other side of the coin is that by talking about it opinions get changed.
The narrative was that Brighton were against neutral grounds because of relegation threats, now it's a majority of clubs against neutral grounds

Yes so now we've swayed the neutral ground argument I think we should step back and see what unfolds. Letting Glen now talk about player concerns fuels the narrative that we look like were doing anything to get out of playing.

Yes, exactly. If the players sue their employer for money they haven't got, the employer goes out of business and the players don't get their money. A man with no money cannot pay his debts.

And then they become Crystal Palace (2000) Ltd. When the company that owns CPFC can't pay it's debts it just phoenixes and forms another company. It's that easy.

Not paying your debts (to whoever it may be) has never been an issue for the scumbags up the road.

Would the remaining games take place in the same order as they were originally scheduled?

Some talk this morning on the radio that the last 9 fixtures will have to be reviewed on their order depending on local police issues around the country. Could be interesting. Also our Leicester away match had never been rearranged either so wonder where that would fit into any game schedule.

I'm sure I read on here that the "neutral venue" issue came about because the police objected to the original fixtures presumably because they thought thousands of us would be rushing over to the Amex, on public transport, for a game we couldn't get into.

Now that silliness has been put to rest, let's not have the police dictating the arrangement of fixtures please.

Government are deffo behind this June re-start, and if it gets Government approval it will happen 100%.

They've gone as far as publishing official detailed guidance on re-starting training-

https://www.gov.uk/government/publi...sport-return-to-training-guidance-step-one--2

They've said that sporting events behind closed doors are expected (subject to infection rate monitoring) to be allowed to commence from 1 June.

They want it to happen, they're facilitating it happening, they're writing the guidance for the clubs.

We must be at a 95% plus certainty of a June re-start. Bundesliga running ok this weekend and beyond will push that closer to 100%.

They are also behind a June Primary school restart but are currently getting enormous pushback from the unions and their own scientists. Just don’t get your hopes too high.

You've been replied to before about this, maybe you missed it. I am sure it is nothing to do with Albion or most other clubs, but in a place like Liverpool, there would definitely be large crowds gathering when they secured the title. Same for Leeds and WBA in the championship. The police were worried about that kind of scenario, not little old BHA in the middle of nowhere.

The Government also decided on March 12 to allow large gatherings (including the PL) to continue, it was only when Arteta became ill with Covid that the PL themselves decided to postpone the games.

The PL are not slaves to this Government, and are able to make the right decision despite Government pressure.

So, was it a member of the Government that came up with the wonderful idea of turning away when you tackle someone and if so, do you know which moron it was?

Or you could argue why should a team retain its position in the league if the season’s not completed ?

Probably because it's not completed.
The Championship needs to be completed in full, if the FL decided to promote West Brom and Leeds automatically then the teams in the playoffs have every right to argue that they can catch the top two. Realistically any of the teams outside the playoffs down to 15th could possibly still finish top 6 if results were to go in their favour. I can see lots of court cases going on if the FL decided the promotion places.

Well Professor Van Tam has massively just dampened the ridiculous Project Restart hopes of a June 12th kick off.

Not really toeing the governement line there, wonder if he’ll be dealt with Trump style?!

Did he?

Prof Van Tam says easing social distancing has been “tentative” and “measured”, and this applies to all of elite sport.

First comes a return to safe training, while still observing social distancing, he says.

“We will have to see how that goes before we even think about the return of competitive football matches," he says. “We have to be slow, we have to be measured.”

Wouldn’t expect anything else from a scientist. No hyperbole or subjectivity.

Yes, I’d say that doesn’t sound very hopeful of starting in less than a month at all.

That idea was froma random twit on twitter. The actual advice was to turn away while getting up after a tackle. Which may be pointless, but it's not dangerous. It was a twitter user who, probably maliciously, decided to twist the story to make either the government or the FA look bad.

Frankly they’re all doing a good job of that themselves.
