That idea was froma random twit on twitter. The actual advice was to turn away while getting up after a tackle. Which may be pointless, but it's not dangerous. It was a twitter user who, probably maliciously, decided to twist the story to make either the government or the FA look bad.

So you turn away after you just been tackled! Utter idiocy. How far away must the ball be because you may just get tackled but be in a position to tackle back. The ball might be loose but are you expected to ignore it to follow the guidelines!! It is unworkable. If you had ever played football, which I'm going to assume you have, you know it won't work.

Any idea how we are due to be relegated if season doesn't finish?

Is it if they use the system that would see Muff survive at the expense of West Ham?

You misunderstand. The article is saying Brighton would want relegation off the table if the season doesn't finish, not that we would be relegated.

Ok, thanks. That wasn't quite clear to me from reading the article.

I think it's badly written. The message is we are against neutral grounds and against relegation if season is curtailed.

You're not kidding it's badly written! I don't know where to start with it tbh.

It’s badly written, isn’t it?

I’ve seen fans of Leeds and Liverpool slag us off for having this opinion saying that it’s self preservation. Which is odd considering we’re currently 15th and clearly wouldn’t be relegated if the season was curtailed no matter what PPG system is used to account for the last 9 rounds of matches.

Looks like it is all moving in one direction...

Government have approved June re-start in principle. I heard yesterday Gov have confirmed that if an individual player tests positive only they are required to isolate, not the whole team / squad.

Medical protocols being agreed Monday https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...-clearing-up-medical-rules-for-premier-league

Potter says in that article that if they agree the measures on Monday BHAFC will re-start training on Tuesday and need 3 weeks, and they would have 3.5 weeks before the proposed June 12 date.

TV deals etc. currently being thrashed out but looks like we may get all games shown live on TV with some free to air https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...r-games-and-share-money-to-restart-government

In other news, it's worth keeping an eye on the projections for the Covid situation in June- as that is when the re-start is proposed. All projections seem to predict an exponential decrease in cases from today's figures over the next month.

Two studies released in the last few days; one reckoned that based on a study, 25% of the population have had Covid already (i.e. approx 15 million people) https://www.manchester.ac.uk/discover/news/over-25-of-the-uk-likely-to-have-had-covid-19-already/ so there should in theory already be a decent level of immunity in the population. Another study on BBC today https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/health-52662066 said they estimate from a study that around 1 in 400 in the UK currently carry covid which equates to around about 148,000 people in England, and this is on an exponential decrease.

The main story in the Telegraph today is a Public Health England report predicting Covid may have all but disappeared in London by June-

Interesting piece of small print in that Guardian article about the PL supporting EFL clubs:

‘The EFL is understood to expect an extra one-off payment, a contribution towards filling the potential £200m black hole in club finances it faces by September. Sources at the Premier League, meanwhile, suggest they see the government’s request as being about ensuring that funds owed under current solidarity arrangements are made available.’

The EFL and Government are going to need to check their pockets when leaving meetings with the PL.

Yep, I posted the story about the virus disappearing in London on the good news thread and it IS good news. Of course, it was also mostly achieved by a mass lockdown rather than a circus of over 50 people travelling the country to play a contact sport...…..

All this looks promising, but the ZOE survey (which has 3.5m participants) shows that rates of COVID symptoms have hardly changed over the past week (there’s even a slight up-tick in the last few days). Albeit obviously a much lower level than in late March/early April.

I know hospital deaths are only a small part of what is going on, but they do provide a very good indicator of the shape of the infection curve across the wider population. This ONS chart actually allocates the deaths back to the day they happened rather than the day they were reported, and the exponential decline is 100% clear on here.

Barber was good value on Radio 4 this morning.

The 2 points that stood out.

- It is the club who would be legally liable for Covid-19 issues, so the all club directors will have to sign off on that.

- Albion are accepting of relegation if 38 games are played on the pitch.

So it looks like we are very much geared up for court action if we were to be relegated by points per game etc. if the season doesn't finish on the pitch.

Yet no word whether the Gov have relaxed position on use of clubs own grounds instead of neutral venues.
