If they had wanted PPV to be a success they would have been more inventive with the cost model.
They clearly needed to keep the one off game price high, so as to not devalue their subscription charges.

I'm sure if they had offered £15 per game but had packages such as 3 games for £30. or £50 for all PV games for the month. then people would have been ok about it.
Nobody in Sky/BT wanted to make it work, as it will be much more lucrative for them to get all the games on their subscription services.

I agree, because if you believe the press releases, they were just covering their costs with the balance going to the clubs. Now, Sky/BT may well get all games at no extra cost with more opportunities to achieve better advertising revenues and possibly attract more subscribers.

The downside is that no money now goes to the clubs. I know there will be plenty that quote the Arsenal management and their signings and redundancies, but clubs like Brighton and Burnley need income. The clubs are under pressure to support the EFL yet on the other side of the coin are being prevented on trying to get match day income!!

Assumption based on the statement we are returning to the previous model, I guess.

I would hope this isn't the case and the Premier League will manage to negotiate a better deal, after the shambles of the last one.

I'm biting the bullet and paying for PPV tonight, can't face another 90 minutes of scrabbling around trying to find a reliable stream, and I'd rather pay for a game we've got a chance of winning than the Spurs game.

My point was: no new deal has been agreed/announced yet.... so no-one knows if clubs will be getting extra revenue from the additional games on TV.
