I used to live on the West Hove side of Boundary Road and all my mates would take the piss saying that I actually lived in Portslade. I loved living in that area though. Boundary road did have a few more decent shops inc Sussex Stationers and all time fav- Woolworths. At the end of the day its a coastal extension of Hove. Not the best pubs but you are two stops from Brighton on the train. Hope the move goes smoothly.

The fairly new chinese opp portslade station called Yummies is fantastic, they took it over from an awful pleace, really cleaned it up and its now my fav by a country mile. Dil Shad and Sheema both good curry houses.

Is that the one next to the Vic ? Must say, it doesn't look very inviting.

Portslade is shithouse.
The Stanley is the only redeeming quality, and maybe if you get lucky finding something worth buying in a charity shop.

Utter crap

If you want a good, reasonably priced kebab try Porky's.

As mentioned the Stanley is a decent pub, probably the only pub in Portslade where i didn't see it kick off on a friday and saturday night growing up.

As for Boundary road was saying when visiting the folks two weeks ago its probably the only place in the world where a Starbucks will never be built. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Easthill, Vale and Victoria parks all good in my opinion, plenty of space for a kick about.

Dildshad and hong kong garden are both nice takeaways. Mile Oak inn is a nice pub although expensive! You definately need to check out Mile Oak farm for some hidden gems food wise. And your Dog/s will just love the open spaces in Mile Oak

Actually, Station Road is in Portslade, if it's in Hove then it's in Boundary Road.
And if you asked 100 people on that very road if it was Station Road or Boundary Road 19 would say Boundary Road, 2 would say Station Road and the other 79 would hit you with a recently purchased Charity Shop toy, mug you for your spare change and spend it on Iceland, KFC and fake Wkd.

Just because they're wrong, doesn't mean you have to be.

You should be thanking me for educating you.

Look back to last night's posts and realise

a) I've already been educated
b) I was doing a not very good repeat gag for my own amusement and
c) I don't care

Didn't the railway station used to be called Portslade & West Hove back in the 70's?

Correct. And as it's in West Hove, perhaps the Portslade bit should have been dropped. The Vic,which I pretty much never drank in before the planners destroyed Sussex's best pub,"The Maytree",sells Harveys, and it's pretty well kept.Portslade used to have the Rothbury cinema, which turned into some kind of radio station at one point, and has its own Town Hall opposite the park,I think. Many people are mentioning pubs in Mile Oak many of whose residents would gasp at the thought of being Portsladers.Very few people venture below the New Church Road junction towards Aldrington Basin, but there are some gems to be seen, including traffic lights and lampposts, and I think there is (was?) a tyrefitters.

On the whole,Portslade is one of Sussex's hidden treasures. And only ten seconds walk from Boundary Road,Hove.

I too grew up on the West Hove Side, Boundary Road. First 25 years of my life spent there (1961 - 1986). Above a launderette initially, next to the TSB. Anyone remember it? Always lovely and warm all year round thanks to that laundrette.

Loved living there but wouldn't go back. Very pikey down there now.
