Mill House is now run by one of my dad mates, who he used to work with. He was the landlord at Hove Park Tavern. He did a fantastic job there!! And he doing a good job at the Mill House now, after years of dreadful ownership!!

Dilshad is the best curry takeaway I've found anywhere in Brighton so far.
The George and Stag are proper shit holes sadly as I'd love to find a decent pub nearby!
Trains/buses/roads are all good.
Easthill park is quite nice and going up the end of Mile Oak Road you find the farm that sells proper fresh meat and you can walks miles with the dogs.

You might be technically correct but if you asked 100 on that very street what road Tesco's was on 20 of them would say Boundary Road, 1 would say Station Road and the other 79 would hit you with a can of reduced mushy peas and steal your copy of Razzle to use as rizla.

I live on Shoreham beach but deliver for Chinese for HONG KONG GARDEN in Mile Oak top end of Portslade. I can honestly say Portslade is OK to work in but personally I wouldnt like to live there. Station Road is full of bric a brac shops foreign owned takeaways and Delis which are just after your money rather than delivering any type of quality. Someone mentioned Oriental Village being a good restaurant, only if you like being crammed in on a Fri/Sat night.
The redeeming factors in Portslade are that you have a good base in wether to catch a bus/train to the Amex. The Stanley pub is by far the nicest pub others are proper geezer pubs but people like that sort of thing.

Had the misfortune to live there on and off between 2003 and last year. Not a lot to recommend it, full of inbreds, chavs and cokeheads. However, the best therapy you could get after a day in the city in my commuting days was to have couple of pints and people watch in the Whistlestop or Victoria when I got off the train. Always brought me back to reality and cheered me up. The Dilshad and The Shume (used to be The Kashmir opposite the Goldstone) are two of the best Indian take aways you'll find anywhere. The MSG free chinese The China Inn on Portland Road was excellent as well.

I grew up just up the road from Portslade Old Village and I loved it.
Boundary/Station Road is a bit pikey, but on the whole, I think it's a great place to live. Good bus/train links, massive supermarket(s) nearby, good choice of pubs. Summer FETES. What's not to like?

I grew up living in the village opposite the George from around 12 to 16 1/2.........I joined the navy as soon as it was possible to escape....George used to be a packed pub, but last time I visited the area to see my sister who still lives there, it was totally empty (possibly enhancing the atmosphere)... ITs not somewhere I look back on with fond memories.
