Van Heck made a superb lunging intercept to deny them a possible goal. Steele also very good today. But everyone played well. Danny is just pure class. A throughly decent day out, thanks lads!

Not a man for player scores so here goes thought Steele was steady, loved the header outside the area to set up an attack the back 4 were ok van hecke is that partner Dunk has been crying out for hinshlewood is young and you can tell that his game needs strengthening ,Veltman did make some interceptions and passes so was ok( i still think lamptey should play for his speed if nothing else) Gilmour was excellent always in the thick of things and will be a loss if he goes Milner worked hard if not much end product .Minteh and Mitoma wernt at their best but i think against lesser left and right backs will still triumph .If we keep Welbeck fit then we are onto a winner he looks happy and obviously loves the service ,Pedro was justifyably MOM a quality all round performance .
The Subs did their part yet again Baleba has come of age Ayari looks like in a seasons time that he could be a very big asset Adingra and Rutter and Enciso look good hopefully Tuesday they will all get run outs, maybe a league 1 side but lets mean business . .... so thats my opinion no need to agree or disagree ! but its looking like a promising season .

No way Milner was a 4 or 5 out of 10. WOuld like to see Weiffer and Billy (if he stays) start next week though.

Special mention for Adringra. Class last week and absolutely quality today. United were just focused on stopping him shooting. He looked up and picked out the spare men. No way Minteh had that in his locker today. Absolute quality. We are going to need all our quality in the final 15 minutes this season. Bringing on JP, Welbeck, Fergie, Enciso, Rutter, Minteh, Adringra, Gruda or Solly could make all the difference.

I know football is a game of opinions but anyone saying someone other than JPVH was mom is wrong.

Billy very good and Baleba looked immense and got control of the midfield.

Mainoo is going to be absolutely different class. First time I have seen him live and he is brilliant. So much time and knows what he is doing before the ball gets there. A brilliant tackle in first half when we were about to pull the trigger.

Minteh has a higher ceiling than Adingra but right now I’d start Adingra.
His Premier League experience gives him the edge.

Great win but felt it was fortunate. Utd had far more control of ball and our midfield no where near Caicedo/Mac days. Hopefully new players will bring us back up to speed here. If we have wingers that are reluctant or not great defenders we have to have midfielders like Caicedo,Gross to have legs to help FBs

Steele 6 Always give 7 for a clean sheet so has to be down on that
Veltman 7 What was needed today good experienced defending. and very little help from Minteh
Vanhecke 9 Agree with majority. Outstanding.
Dunk 7 Did ok against pacy forwards
Hinsh 4 out of position but like Everton in first 30mins they knew it was our weak link and we always looked like conceeding on that side. Not perfect but Ignor never let us down there. Please dont have him there against Saka next week.
Gilmore 7 Does well at the simple bits
Milner 5 Just doesnt have the legs to do what he used to be good at so another like Gilmore good at simple bits. and 2 is too many.
Minteh 3 Sorry but thought he was terrible today and it will happen to flair players. I will always remember his pass to keeper when we had 4 in the box. Was up against outstanding FB that was as quick as him but unlike Mitoma has not as many tricks. Just not his day and Andringa should have replaced earlier.
Welbeck 7 Such good movement and first touch.
Pedro 7 Lost possesion several times when playing deeper in 1st half. always likely to conjure up something out of nothing and that is why he is rarely taken off.
Mitoma 6 Again up against very good FB. First player we want to have the ball when attacking didnt see enough of it today.

Steele 7.5

Veltman 7
Dunk 6.5
Van Hecke 9
Hinshelwood 5.5

Gilmour 7
Milner 7

Minteh 6
Joao Pedro 7
Mitoma 7

Welbeck 8

Dont want to be harsh on Hinsh as he is young, coming back from injury and playing out of position- he was decent going forward as well- but bloody hell, he pushed way too far forward at times, including for the goal.

Bit of a frustrating one for the wingers, Dalot and Mazraoui did a good job on Minteh and Mitoma. I would've had Georginio, Adingra or Enciso on for him a bit earlier but it worked out perfectly in the end.

Van Hecke was almost flawless, a rock at the back and played a few nice through balls. Felt Dunk looked a bit shaky early on by comparison. Veltman got lucky after losing the aerial with Dalot which Amad should've scored from but he recovered well. Can't believe he got away without a yellow when he literally punched the ball away on the ground :lolol:

Steele was always open for the pass, loved the diving header on the edge of the box as well. Gilmour kept things ticking over well, Milner did as he does, worked hard and kept the team going. Joao Pedro drove forward well and obviously scored that delicious winner. Welbeck was very good again, his chest down on the halfway line and pass on to Minteh was sublime.

All the subs had an impact as well which was great to see. Some of the stuff Baleba does is unbelievable, the ball just seems to stick to his feet at times.

Bad ? Not in my book.
It’s a matter of opinion 🤷‍♂️ I’m just saying what I saw. Hinshelwood’s performance was a big problem today defensively and offensively (although, as I said, I recognise he’s out of position).

And the less said about Milner’s performance the better. If anyone genuinely watched him play football today and thought he was anything close to average, let alone good, then football really isn’t for them. The difference between him and Gilmour and Baleba was stark, to be quite frank.

Steele 7 - good distribution. Didn’t have a save to make really, aside from the disallowed goal.

Veltman 6 - a worry. Repeatedly done on the counter. Offered little going forward.

JPVH 9 - a colossus.

Dunk 7.5 - very very good, although done a couple of times down the left covering for Hinsheldwood. Good with the ball.

Hinshelwood 4 - a great young player being forced into a position he doesn't know, that doesn’t suit him.

Gilmour 9 - absolutely everywhere. How there’s even talk of us selling him for £12m is beyond me. The contrast between him and Milner was stark.

Milner 3 - I’m not really sure he did anything right. Tactically he looked totally lost. Regularly slowed moves down and picked the wrong option in possession. Had two excellent chances at the start of the second half and fluffed his lines in both. Honestly, I don’t know how he stayed on as long as he did, and he surely can’t be playing in midfield with any regularity moving forward.

Minteh 7 - worked his backside off defensively. I loved his pressing and work rate. Showed moments of classes when crossing, but also made the wrong decision on a few occasions, and lacked the confidence to take on his defender at times. Dalot was excellent against him. There’s a player there though.

Pedro 7 - awful first half, replicating the same issues Milner had but left of centre. Was unlucky at the start of the second half when creating for others, before tiring. Great winner though.

Mitoma 6 - had one opportunity to impact the game and did. Snuffed out for most of the game though, and showed little intention of trying to mix it up.

Welbeck 8 - very, very good hold up and link up play. Got his goal. His lack of goalscoring instinct showed at other times, but overall very positive again.

Baleba 8.5 - changed the game. If our midfield is to be as open and stretched as it seems the new manager wants it to be, then he needs to play.

Ruttner 6.5 - showed real signs of quality.

Adingra 7 - decisive when it mattered.

Enciso 6.5 - nearly scored. Looked lively in his brief cameo.

Ayari 6 - kept us ticking over without really impacting the game.
Sorry but these scores are just absolute nonsense.
