Van Heck made a superb lunging intercept to deny them a possible goal. Steele also very good today. But everyone played well. Danny is just pure class. A throughly decent day out, thanks lads!
Agreed. Very clever performanceWhat did you guys think of Milner’s performance? I thought he was quality in the CM engine room, winning a load of duals and popping up protecting Dunk/JPVH when potentially outnumbered.
Really surprised by the very low ratings.
I think Minteh may be better as an impact substitute- he was quite scary last weekMinteh has a higher ceiling than Adingra but right now I’d start Adingra.
His Premier League experience gives him the edge.
Only if you spent the first half on the concourseMilner first half 2, second half 8
It’s a matter of opinion I’m just saying what I saw. Hinshelwood’s performance was a big problem today defensively and offensively (although, as I said, I recognise he’s out of position).Bad ? Not in my book.
Sorry but these scores are just absolute nonsense.Steele 7 - good distribution. Didn’t have a save to make really, aside from the disallowed goal.
Veltman 6 - a worry. Repeatedly done on the counter. Offered little going forward.
JPVH 9 - a colossus.
Dunk 7.5 - very very good, although done a couple of times down the left covering for Hinsheldwood. Good with the ball.
Hinshelwood 4 - a great young player being forced into a position he doesn't know, that doesn’t suit him.
Gilmour 9 - absolutely everywhere. How there’s even talk of us selling him for £12m is beyond me. The contrast between him and Milner was stark.
Milner 3 - I’m not really sure he did anything right. Tactically he looked totally lost. Regularly slowed moves down and picked the wrong option in possession. Had two excellent chances at the start of the second half and fluffed his lines in both. Honestly, I don’t know how he stayed on as long as he did, and he surely can’t be playing in midfield with any regularity moving forward.
Minteh 7 - worked his backside off defensively. I loved his pressing and work rate. Showed moments of classes when crossing, but also made the wrong decision on a few occasions, and lacked the confidence to take on his defender at times. Dalot was excellent against him. There’s a player there though.
Pedro 7 - awful first half, replicating the same issues Milner had but left of centre. Was unlucky at the start of the second half when creating for others, before tiring. Great winner though.
Mitoma 6 - had one opportunity to impact the game and did. Snuffed out for most of the game though, and showed little intention of trying to mix it up.
Welbeck 8 - very, very good hold up and link up play. Got his goal. His lack of goalscoring instinct showed at other times, but overall very positive again.
Baleba 8.5 - changed the game. If our midfield is to be as open and stretched as it seems the new manager wants it to be, then he needs to play.
Ruttner 6.5 - showed real signs of quality.
Adingra 7 - decisive when it mattered.
Enciso 6.5 - nearly scored. Looked lively in his brief cameo.
Ayari 6 - kept us ticking over without really impacting the game.
What makes you say that, given my reasoning? At the very least you have Milner and Minteh scores the wrong way round!
Which ones?Sorry but these scores are just absolute nonsense.
