when it came to Minteh he came up a very very impressive Dalot (There best player), maybe Mitoma and he should have swapped sides
Dalot was very impressive. If we’re to continue with the Hinshelwood experiment at LB, we could do worse than to have him watch some videos of Dalot’s performance today, considering they’re both playing on their wrong foot in that position.

Special mention to Fabian's substitutes today. Not only did Carlos completely turn the game on it's head with a superb display, but also showed real intent making a triple sub just before the 90th minute.

I thought Georginio showed some real signs of quality and looked very sharp in his technical work. Can see him fast becoming a fan favourite.

Steele 7 - good distribution. Didn’t have a save to make really, aside from the disallowed goal.

Veltman 6 - a worry. Repeatedly done on the counter. Offered little going forward.

JPVH 9 - a colossus.

Dunk 7.5 - very very good, although done a couple of times down the left covering for Hinsheldwood. Good with the ball.

Hinshelwood 4 - a great young player being forced into a position he doesn't know, that doesn’t suit him.

Gilmour 9 - absolutely everywhere. How there’s even talk of us selling him for £12m is beyond me. The contrast between him and Milner was stark.

Milner 3 - I’m not really sure he did anything right. Tactically he looked totally lost. Regularly slowed moves down and picked the wrong option in possession. Had two excellent chances at the start of the second half and fluffed his lines in both. Honestly, I don’t know how he stayed on as long as he did, and he surely can’t be playing in midfield with any regularity moving forward.

Minteh 7 - worked his backside off defensively. I loved his pressing and work rate. Showed moments of classes when crossing, but also made the wrong decision on a few occasions, and lacked the confidence to take on his defender at times. Dalot was excellent against him. There’s a player there though.

Pedro 7 - awful first half, replicating the same issues Milner had but left of centre. Was unlucky at the start of the second half when creating for others, before tiring. Great winner though.

Mitoma 6 - had one opportunity to impact the game and did. Snuffed out for most of the game though, and showed little intention of trying to mix it up.

Welbeck 8 - very, very good hold up and link up play. Got his goal. His lack of goalscoring instinct showed at other times, but overall very positive again.

Baleba 8.5 - changed the game. If our midfield is to be as open and stretched as it seems the new manager wants it to be, then he needs to play.

Ruttner 6.5 - showed real signs of quality.

Adingra 7 - decisive when it mattered.

Enciso 6.5 - nearly scored. Looked lively in his brief cameo.

Ayari 6 - kept us ticking over without really impacting the game.
At the very least you have Milner and Minteh scores the wrong way round!

Not sure you can give Baleba MOTM - he only played 25 minutes although he was excellent in that time.

I think Gilmour was MOTM with Pedro and Welbeck just behind. We also need to get the ball out to Mitoma more.

Manager was very brave with his subs - so pleased for us. :albion2:

I agree.

Baleba was very quiet in the first half, I hardly noticed him.

I thought Minteh was poor. Yes, he's speedy but he got into so many good positions and completely fluffed it. Van Hecke was MotM by a street for me, although as others have said, Baleba was superb when he came on

Mitoma - not so good on attack but decisive when he was given the ball. What I liked about his game today was his working with Hinshelwood and providing very good cover when Jack caught up field. We needed to get ball to him more often in first half.

MOTM JPVH but some close contenders Gilmour & Wellbeck.

Milner i thought had a very good game.

Nobody was poor today.
Strange to see 3s, & 4s in this thread.

Steele -7 - i haven't seen their goal back yet, so that may be 0.5 too high
Passing was superb today, couple of good claims too.

Veltman - 7 was exposed a few times, but used his ecperience to keep everything calm.

Van Hecke - 9 - MotM. Superb in all aspects of the game.

Dunk - 6 - Hopefully just still rusty. A patchy game from the skipper.

Hinshelwood - 6 - did just enough as a lb, looked better coming forward. Hopefully he won't be filling in for too much longer.

Milner -6- Solid, dependable, experienced. He is so much more useful to us in this role. But suspect his starting berth will soon be taken off him.

WBG - 7 - Very decent performance. Enjoyed his battle with Fernandez. Hopefully this is not the end....

Minteh -6- Not really his day today, but still gave United plenty to think about.

Mitoma - 6.5 - similar to Minteh, but he just wasn't used enough. Myltiple timws he was in acres of space. But the ball took to long to get to him.

Pedro - 8 - what a talent, led the charge in the 2nd half. Nice goal too.

DGW - 8 - Excellent again. Long may this run of form continue.

Subs

Baleba -8 - poweful Cameo, which gave us the platform to win it. Bloke is class.

Ayari -6.5.- Glad he's going to be hanging around this season.

Rutter - 6.5. - looks good. Hopefully see more of him on Tuesday.

Enciso - 6- good to have him back.
Some glimpses, similarly hope to see more of him on Tuesday.

JPVH was head and shoulders (literially and figuretively) above everyone.

Steele played some nice passes out and Baleba had good a cameo, him and Enciso seemed to change the momentum and upped it a gear but strange as it sounds I thought everyone else was solid and decent, which is no bad thing.

Seemed like everyone clicked, played their part and got the job done.

I thought United defended annoyingly well in their box until Slabhead cocked up. So much good approach work snuffed out before and after, until the winner.

First part of the first half I thought we gave the ball away too much but we seemed to sort that out as the game wore on.

Mitoma was marked out the game and didn't really do a lot (though still got an assist).

Minteh is understandably still raw and made a few strange decisions but he still looks the goods and is confident player.

I was worried Fab was taking a bit too long to make the subs but Enciso and Georginio (and Baleba of course) really made a difference out wide. Great we have so many options to change a game, which didn't have last year.

Anyone giving 3,4 or 5 to any of our players are nuts.

What did you guys think of Milner’s performance? I thought he was quality in the CM engine room, winning a load of duals and popping up protecting Dunk/JPVH when potentially outnumbered.

Really surprised by the very low ratings.

He was very good, got stuck in and looked classy imo as did WBG. I confess to being worried when I saw they were our midfield but I was wrong
