Steele - 9. Not usually a massive fan, but his kicking off both feet was fantastic. No blame for the goal.

Veltman - 7. Steady by not stand out.

JPVH - 9.5. Amazing. Enough said.

Dunk - 7. Not at his best yet. In fact, thought he was completely off it for the first 20, but grew into the game.

Hinsh - 5. Not a left back experiment I expect to last much longer. Particularly as the next game would be be against Saka. Not his fault as out of position, but you can definitely tell.

Gilmour - 8. Particularly second half, really good.

Milner - 6.5. Sorry don’t agree with the above, barely did anything first half. An improvement second half, but he can’t start for us imo.

Minteh - 6. Huffed and puffed. Worked really hard off the ball. Lots of good work until the last bit. Shown how it’s done by Adingra.

Mitoma - 6. Largely ineffective, other than the nice assist.

Pedro - 8. All round game better second half than first. But large but in the first goal (great initial cross to Mitoma), and always produces big moments to win games. Great trait to have.

Welbeck - 8. Fine wine.

Subs:
Baleba - 8. Changed the game.
Adingra - 8. Big moment. Perhaps a start next game. Goal and assist in about 55 mins of football this season.
Rutter- 7. Good early signs.
Enciso - 6. Mixed bag.
Ayari - 7. Believe it was his composure on the edge of the box to pick out Adingra for the assist.

Fab - 9. Great subs. Changed style second half after a ropey first half (despite being ahead). Really good early signs and love the togetherness at the end.

It’s a matter of opinion 🤷‍♂️ I’m just saying what I saw. Hinshelwood’s performance was a big problem today defensively and offensively (although, as I said, I recognise he’s out of position).
Astonishing he started today. He needs a loan. He should be nowhere near our squad if we want top 6. There must be someone who can play left back it's ridiculous.

Steele 7.5

Veltman 7
Dunk 6.5
Van Hecke 9
Hinshelwood 5.5

Gilmour 7
Milner 7

Minteh 6
Joao Pedro 7
Mitoma 7

Welbeck 8

Dont want to be harsh on Hinsh as he is young, coming back from injury and playing out of position- he was decent going forward as well- but bloody hell, he pushed way too far forward at times, including for the goal.

Bit of a frustrating one for the wingers, Dalot and Mazraoui did a good job on Minteh and Mitoma. I would've had Georginio, Adingra or Enciso on for him a bit earlier but it worked out perfectly in the end.

Van Hecke was almost flawless, a rock at the back and played a few nice through balls. Felt Dunk looked a bit shaky early on by comparison. Veltman got lucky after losing the aerial with Dalot which Amad should've scored from but he recovered well. Can't believe he got away without a yellow when he literally punched the ball away on the ground :lolol:

Steele was always open for the pass, loved the diving header on the edge of the box as well. Gilmour kept things ticking over well, Milner did as he does, worked hard and kept the team going. Joao Pedro drove forward well and obviously scored that delicious winner. Welbeck was very good again, his chest down on the halfway line and pass on to Minteh was sublime.

All the subs had an impact as well which was great to see. Some of the stuff Baleba does is unbelievable, the ball just seems to stick to his feet at times.
Agree Appreciate out of position but hopefully will have learned a lot yesterday and from Veltman. Stood out last season on right in games we dominated possesion when he was able to charge forward. Man Utd were comfortable on ball and was a day for FBs to give priority to defending not getting stranded up front and leaving so much space for wide players.

Which ones?
Veltman was not a ‘worry’ he was solid.

Dunk was not very very good. That was one of his shakiest games in a while

Milner being a 3 is just nonsense. He had a good game, was progressive with the ball and I can barely remember him misplacing a pass

Minteh was average and never a 7. His final ball and decision making was poor and he barely got past his fullback once. Hes an excellent player but yesterday was an off day.

Pedro was not ‘awful’ first half.

Funny how we see things differently when watching.

JP was very good today but he was the man who broke the high line on occasion playing them on. Otherwise he was outstanding defensively.

I'm no fan of Milner but thought we had a very good 2nd half. Low scores are unfair. For the 2nd game in a row, Milner is playing far more advanced than an RDZ midfield but it is clearly under instruction to do so.

WBG MOM by some margin for me. The formation almost becomes a 4-1-5 at times and places a lot of emphasis on that role. I thought he did it superbly well. We are giving him away for 15 million.

Minteh and Mitoma got snuffed out yesterday by and large. Probably no bad thing it's not as easy as last week.

Last observation is that for all the.money we spent it was last year's team except Minteh out there yesterday. Granted there are also 2 back from injury as well but if the new bunch improve things, this could be a superb season.

We’ll agree to disagree 🤷‍♂️ what you and I saw were very different things, clearly. Which is fine. It’s a game of opinions.

I appreciate the sarcasm, but there’s no point in taking the bait. I stated quite clearly that I think he’s an excellent young player, just that he played out of position and it showed. Two things can be true at once, after all 🤷‍♂️

Was he being sarky? Over several threads, he’s made it clear he doesn’t rate Hinshelwood. Yet.

Steele 7 - Thought he had a good game. Unlucky for their goal. I think he might have got to it before it deflected off JPVH
Veltman 6 - He isn´t a proper full back but a great player to have as a back up.
JPVH 8 - Had a great game.
Dunk 7 - Usual Dunky display consistent and commanding.
Hinshelwood 6 - He is NOT a LB but a very promising talent. Looked so much better when he was pushed up 2nd half.
Gilmour 9 - MoM performance. Surely he should stay but the club seems to want to sign a replacement!
Milner 5 -He is a very experienced player but getting a bit slow and his finishing showed why he hasn´t scored for 5 years!!
Minteh 7 -Puzzled by his performance, He is so quick and skillful but makes some weird decisions. He is another real prospect.
Pedro 7 -An average showing from him but great finish and he is great at going past defenders
Mitoma 6 - Think he was too busy covering with Hinshlewood to get as forward as usual but when we really started pushing in the last 10-15 minutes he was much more involved. In the first half it seemed nobody wanted to play down our left side, everything went to Minteh,
Welbeck 8 - Great performance from a classy player.
Baleba 8 - He is looking more and more like the player bought to replace Caicedo.
Ruttner 6.5 - Looks like a good signing but early days.
Adingra 7 - He is another promising talent and should start.
Enciso 6.5 - Good to see him fit and back in the side.
Ayari 6 - Don´t recall much of his game time :(
Sorry copied and pasted your post and then edited.

Gilmour 9 - absolutely everywhere. How there’s even talk of us selling him for £12m is beyond me. The contrast between him and Milner was stark.
Contrast between Gilmour and Baleba was quite interesting as well.
