Fiveways
Steele 7 -- not much to do, only saw the goal live and don't think I'll blame him for it; passing utterly stunning
Veltman 7 -- pretty solid
JPvH 9 -- Van Heckenbauer absolutely bossed it
Dunk 7 -- solid
Hinshelwood 6 -- probably could have done better for the goal, but intelligent interpretation of the role beyond that
Gilmour 8 -- thanks a lot Billy
Milner 5 -- game pretty much passed him by
Minteh 5 -- what a prospect, gets fans out of their seats, needs to improve decision-making, had so many opportunities and fluffed pretty much all of them
Mitoma 6 -- kept them on the edge but didn't really do too much beyond the nice assist
Joao Pedro 8 -- brilliant running on and off the ball as ever, a delicious ball in for the pre-assist and an added time winner
Welbeck 8 -- intelligent line-leading, got his second of the season, hit the bar, had another header on target

Subs:
Baleba 9 MotM -- what a 25 minutes, he turned the game, before he came on Mainoo was running it for them, but Carlos utterly bossed him, so strong and creative. Can we see more of him please?
Other subs, not enough time to judge

United were either very good at defending in their box or very lucky, until slabhead f***ed up

I think you're being harsh on Milner otherwise I'm in full agreement.

Maguire makes me laugh, he looks like he bought a kit and sneaked on the pitch.

Dunk looked bang average today . . .MIlner is old tough and wise enough to be useful but there's a big disconnect between attack and defence with him and WBG, the transition is ponderous and nullified before it's gained any momentum

I'm probably alone in this, I didn't think Pedro had a very good game until his goal. I probably missed a lot of his runs or something.

JPvH MOTM
If you missed the very start of the second half it’s worth having a look

Steele 8
Veltman 7 (outpaced on the counter repeatedly, but Minteh never helped out).
JPvH 10 (immense in defence and in midfield!).
Dunk 7.5
Hinshelwood 6 (square peg, not his fault).
Gilmour 8.5
Milner 8.5 (destroyed their moves in CM, effective simple passing).
Minteh 5 (still learning, he won't pass, but you can see that he'll be a huge threat).
Mitoma 7 (players didn't instinctively pass to him when still in space).
Joao Pedro 8.5
Welbeck 8.5 (like a fine wine. Better than their expensive CB's in every facet).

Subs:
Baleba 9 (a beast. Not meant in a Ron Atkinson way).

Steele - 7 - Breathtakingly good with the ball at his feet. He's actually better with his wrong foot, than pretty much all other PL keepers are with their strongest foot. Made a very good save from the Rashford disallowed goal. But not overly involved in the game

Veltman - 7 - Normal Joel. Reliable, solid dependable, unspectacular, no mistakes. Veltman - 7

Hinshelwood - 6 - Oozes quality on the ball, but offers less threat in attack on the left than on the right. Caught badly out of position for the Zirzee kneed disallowed goal. Not the lad's fault necessarily, as no midfielder was covering his forward burst, but we need to look at how easily sides are hitting us on the break

Van Hecke - 10 MOM - Feel like I have no choice but to go early with the 10 this season. What a performance. The number of covering challenges. Always knows when to stay on his feet and when to go to ground. A £100m player

Dunk - 7 - Handled Man Utd forwards well. His radar a little off on the longer balls

Gilmour - 8 - A different player already this season. He's looking to thread through the gaps rather than knock it 5 yards to Pascal and continually recycle. This will reduce his accuracy percentages, but who cares. Napoli will have to do much much better if they want him

Milner - 7 - On the negative side of the ledger, a weak challenge for their counter attack disallowed goal and a few bits of iffy passing. On the upside, some impressive breaks into the box. Can't help but think he looks like a close the game out sort of player, which I guess is what he will be in the coming weeks

Minteh - 4 - Ineffective against probably the best full back in the division. HIs replacement looked a lot more effective than him. I actually think this will do the lad some good, he needs to know the level he has to reach to stay in the side

Mitoma - 5 - No change again, against a very impressive full back. I'm not ruling out Simon Adingra starting at Arsenal

Pedro - 8 - Glides. He just glides. Only flashes today, but anyone hoping to take his spot will be scratching their head about how they are going to do it. He's a bloody hard worker as well, should get a lot of joy in an attacking midfield position

Welbeck - 9 - The stand out player so far this season. On these performances, he has absolutely everything you would want in a striker. I have every confidence he will get more than 15 goals this season and he could get 20

Subs

Baleba - 9 - Dominated a tiring Man Utd midfield. Play him. Play him, just play him

Others not on long enough, but all made a decent case for more minutes

Steele 7 - good distribution. Didn’t have a save to make really, aside from the disallowed goal.

Veltman 6 - a worry. Repeatedly done on the counter. Offered little going forward.

JPVH 9 - a colossus.

Dunk 7.5 - very very good, although done a couple of times down the left covering for Hinsheldwood. Good with the ball.

Hinshelwood 4 - a great young player being forced into a position he doesn't know, that doesn’t suit him.

Gilmour 9 - absolutely everywhere. How there’s even talk of us selling him for £12m is beyond me. The contrast between him and Milner was stark.

Milner 3 - I’m not really sure he did anything right. Tactically he looked totally lost. Regularly slowed moves down and picked the wrong option in possession. Had two excellent chances at the start of the second half and fluffed his lines in both. Honestly, I don’t know how he stayed on as long as he did, and he surely can’t be playing in midfield with any regularity moving forward.

Minteh 7 - worked his backside off defensively. I loved his pressing and work rate. Showed moments of classes when crossing, but also made the wrong decision on a few occasions, and lacked the confidence to take on his defender at times. Dalot was excellent against him. There’s a player there though.

Pedro 7 - awful first half, replicating the same issues Milner had but left of centre. Was unlucky at the start of the second half when creating for others, before tiring. Great winner though.

Mitoma 6 - had one opportunity to impact the game and did. Snuffed out for most of the game though, and showed little intention of trying to mix it up.

Welbeck 8 - very, very good hold up and link up play. Got his goal. His lack of goalscoring instinct showed at other times, but overall very positive again.

Baleba 8.5 - changed the game. If our midfield is to be as open and stretched as it seems the new manager wants it to be, then he needs to play.

Ruttner 6.5 - showed real signs of quality.

Adingra 7 - decisive when it mattered.

Enciso 6.5 - nearly scored. Looked lively in his brief cameo.

Ayari 6 - kept us ticking over without really impacting the game.

when it came to Minteh he came up a very very impressive Dalot (There best player), maybe Mitoma and he should have swapped sides

Not sure you can give Baleba MOTM - he only played 25 minutes although he was excellent in that time.

I think Gilmour was MOTM with Pedro and Welbeck just behind. We also need to get the ball out to Mitoma more.

Manager was very brave with his subs - so pleased for us. :albion2:
