I must have been watching a different Liam Bridcutt to most people then. I thought he had a decent game, breaking up play, battling for everything, winning tackles.

Gotta agree with this, Liam worked his socks off this evening. Broke up so many attacks and made himself available for a pass.

Calderon - 6- not much wrong but missed Bruno
El Abd -6- commanded defence well
Greer -7- did everything he had to do well
Bridge 8- MOTM got forward well

Dicker -6- broke up play well and some nice passes
Barnes -6- ineffectual
Buckley -5- offside always and delivery was dreadful.

Kuszczak 5 Incredibly poor with his feet, really suprised. Not convinced the goal was "unsavable". Seemed slow to react.
Calderon Did his defensive work well. There was none for him to do. Added nothing in attack.
Greer 6 Did nothing wrong, got closed down on the blindside in the first half but played out of it. Class.
El-Abd 5 Slow and awkward with the ball, Lita deliberately closed down Greer and not El-Abd. Had no idea what to do.
Bridge 8 Clearly far too good for the Championship. Class oozes through him, but looked frustrated first half. Rightly so.
Bridcutt 8 Magician, absolute magician. Won almost every header, didn't lose the ball and intercepted all over the place. He is the battery.
Hammond 5 Didn't really have a touch of note in the first half, wasn't his best performance but no service in advanced positions.
Dicker 7 Did nothing wrong, but didn't really take much responsibility for the difficult pass or the through ball which might penetrate.
Buckley 5 Well, everyone has an off day. He did put a couple of good balls in, but nobody chased them.
Barnes 5 Pretty poor to be fair to him. Did nothing of any real value unfortunately.
Dobbie 5 Poor full debut. Dropped off to get the ball, then did nothing with it. Will play the Barnes role when CMS fit, probably.

Subs
Lopez 4 Don't mean to be harsh, but Christ. Expected better, maybe my expectations are too high. Clear to see why he's not been rushed into the team.
LuaLua 7 Should have been on much earlier, terrorised them. They had no answer but to foul.

The Brummie referee 3 Entertaining. Had a little laugh and giggle with the East before the second half kicked off. Obviously an obnoxious wanker. Awful performance from him, his assistants, his 4th official and his kids are probably tossers too.

I agree with pretty much all of this but I think Bridcutt only got into the game in the 2nd half.

Hammond better than Dicker? Do you watch the game behind the goal by any chance?

Kuszcazk 6 - no chance with the goal

Calderon 6 - ok
Greer 6 - ok
El-Abd 6 - ok
Bridge 7 - MOM (ours)

Bridcutt 6
Dicker 6.5
Hammond 5 - seemed lost, possibly due to our formation not working against Brum.

Barnes 5 - Out of sorts but no service.
Dobbie 5 - looked ok on the ball but had no final ball and didn't seem to want to shoot. Although had no service.
Buckley 5 - poor final ball

Subs:

Lopez 5
Lua Lua 6

Poor in final third and midfield were poor in first half, Burke would have never shot if we had actually closed him down

OK,I'm going to explain this here hoping it stands out more than coming after the rating:

Greer loses two points from me, because he passed to Calderon a grand total of twice in the whole match. And on one of the occasions he demanded the ball back right away. Unti about the 70th minute he seemingly refused to even look towards Calderon as an option. Buckley had to come over to the left to get a chance of getting the ball. How are we going to provide a threat if all our attacks come down the left wing? How are we supposed to create space upfield if our opponents know they don't have to bother marking calderon when we have the ball in our half because he's not going to get the ball. I've skimmed some of the other ratings in this thread and noted someone point out Calderon didn't really contribute much. He couldn't because no one on our team seemed to want to pass to him. It was so frustrating to see him in space time and again, and instead watch greer turn his back to calderon and play it over to the left. His general passing was over ambitious too often. He has some games where he makes the long pass time and again, but he just wasn't doing it today. That is why his mark is so low. It would have been a 6 to 6.5, but because of his apparent steadfast refusal to play to Calderon I'm giving him 4.

Kuzszczak 7 - no chance with the goal, a little panicky at times, but generally comfortable
Calderon 6 - contributed as much as he could.
Greer 4 - see above
El Abd 6 - seemed a little over powered, or hesitant.
Bridge 8 - only player who really seemed to want to win
Buckley 6.5 some dangerous runs but, in the second half at least, every one of his cross was either a gentle lift into the keeper's arms or into a "danger area" where none of our players showed up to create any danger
Bridcutt 6 - over powered, made some magnificent attempts to win the ball in the air but mostly just went flying spectacularly away from the ball
Hammond 5.5 - seemed lost, didn't seem to know what to do and took too long trying to decide
Dicker 7.5 - good performance, net turns a great range of passing, not quite attacking enough
Barnes 6 - a slight lapse of concentration could have go him booked, but he seemed intent to stay on his feet as much a possible today (might have got the penalty he was frustrated not to get if he'd gone down, though probably not with today's ref).
Dobbie 6 - Some may rate him unfairly because he didn't run around like the man he was replacing, but he showed some good moves, some neat touches and turns.

Lopez 5.5 - seemed mostly anonymous or overwhelmed.
Lualua 6 - put his crosses in with a bit more venom, but still too close to the keeper. Seemed reluctant to take on his man at times.

I don't think any of our claims for penalties were pens. The handball looked to me like it his the guy's chest, barnes maybe got clipped but it would have been harsh.

I mentioned it with barnes, but it seemed our entire team was trying not to go down so much, Perhaps if bridge rolled around on the floor instead of getting up the Bham player would have seen red, maybe lualua would hav got freekick on the edge of the ox if he's gone down right away instead of trying to stay on his feet but ending up going down as if he was trying to con the ref into giving a penalty for the foul outside the box, but I liked seeing our players trying to stay up, and would rather miss out on deserved free kicks, than encourage our players to go down on the slightest contact.

I also struggle to see how CMS would have changed things. It's not like the ball went to areas CMS usually attacks, or that we were playing them into CMS areas and forgetting we had Dobbie on. Bruno would have made a difference - we'd have a right back that one of our centre backs would use and create a threat on both sides of the pitch to spread the defence.

We lost because we gave them too much space in the middle, had no threat in the box, crosses either went gently into the keeper's hands, or to areas where no player had bothered going to even though they are textbook areas, and because Greer decided to make Calderon a passenger.

In case it is not clear, I am so very frustrated with Greer's decision making today. It was appalling.

Kusczak 7 - couldn't do anything with the pace or power of the goal, which was top quality, otherwise nothing to do
Calde 7 - Some good moments going forward
Greer 7 - did what he had to do well
El Abd 7 - surprising substitution
Bridge 9 - absolute class from start to finish
Bridcutt 7 - tenacious performance
Dicker 7 - poor first half, excellent second
Hammond 5 - really off the pace today. Better dropped into defence.
Buckley 7 - caused problems first half, tired second
Dobbie 7 - worked really hard, some good touches
Barnes 5 - not at his best but won a lot of headers, took an early knock

Subs

Lopez 5 - one or two nice through balls but fairly quiet
Lua Lua 8 - caused 20 mins of problems for Birmingham

Kuszczak- 6- Couldn't do anything about the goal, kicking suspect at times
Bridge- 9- Superb. Tracked back and put some dangerous ball in, only player who wanted it today
Greer-7
El-Abd-6
Calderon-6
Bridcutt-7
Buckley-5- Very poor today. Beat the fullback then got a poor ball in almost every time
Barnes-7
Hammond-3- Awful
Dicker-7.5
Dobbie-3- Lazy (is he actually fit?) Should have brought Toby on at least he would have run about in the last half an hour

Apart from Dobbie I'd go along with that. I thought Dobbie started brightly and did well for 20 mins. Quite a poor 2nd half but I can't imagine he's very fit. Gonna be an excellent player once match fit I think.

What would you give Dobbie?

Not sure why Dicker is getting flack, he looks one of the best passers in the team.

Dobbie looks very good on the ball. I'd like to see him deeper when CMS is fit rather than leading the line.
