I’m genuinely looking forward to seeing this Gammon Broadcasting news thing. Anytime these bigoted, brexity types try to do anything legit, it always backfires.
The prejudice and bullying, dressed up as “anti-woke” or “anti-PC” mostly drifts by on Internet forums or internet et channels like Foxhole, because it’s only the slow of wit that tend to watch them. However when they try and peddle this claptrap to a mainstream audience, they usually end up getting soundly ridiculed.

Or it may go absolute gangbusters. Nothing would surprise me in this messed up time.

Either way, one thing I can guarantee, it’s going to be an embarrassment of prejudice and bile. It will def get an audience of some sort. After all, the Mail is widely read. By idiots.

I think Gammon Broadcasting will make heavy losses and fail in the medium to long term. Even if it has wealthy backers.

Imho there simply isn't enough of a UK public market, to watch a quasi-Fox News.

Through family, friends and clients/work I know a large number of folk who voted for Brexit. Almost to a person they're not Brexit or anti-EU obsessives, only a couple moan about the BBC, only one of them didn't despise Trump.

We can all point to Tommy Robinson, Football Lads Alliance and Farage as being indicative of a right wing UK, but I think insufficent numbers will want to watch a right wing news channel.

We're a mainly centre right to centre left nation.

The US is an entirely different kettle of fish. 74m voted for an Alt-Right racist, shite-stirrer and hater. That's a huge marketplace for Fox News.

Not only that, politics and right/left propaganda is tedious for most people who simply want to get on with their lives.

Very good points. I hope the country feels that we have all had a crazy year and we need to pull together now to get back on our feet, mentally, economically and physically. And a channel designed solely to further divide the country will rightly get low viewing figures and quietly disappear into the ether.
Whatever side you stand on politically, anyone with any sense at all knows this is not what the UK needs right now.

With this GB News thing the one certainty will be a thread dedicated to it probably started the main board and then after 100 or so posts moved to the Pit where left v right near centre or far will continue their battles [emoji6]

GB news has been alive and kicking on here for sometime, it has a few followers, but I think most are just smoke blowing.

The wonderful thing about living in the UK is we have a choice and there isn’t a law to watch this GB news thingy, I suspect that many on here will watch it for no other reason than to critique it, I personally don’t watch any news channels!

I get my news from NSC.

I can't remember the last time I watched news on the Television. I don't like the affected urgency of it all. Even the intro music for most news shows sounds like the soundtrack to a Bourne movie.
I listen to the news on R4 in the morning and Westminster hour at night. Nice and calm.

I am genuinely interested, from a sociological standpoint, to see this GB news. It should be entertaining. To a point.

Well I hope you're right. On the whole British TV news is fair and balanced, there is not a heavy bias.

We want the news reported not opinions, if you want that you have Talk Radio, LBC etc

Interesting discussion on LBC with the question: Is the Royal Family racist? which is a bit of a stupid question. Then we have mainly middle age white people calling a national broacaster who feel qualified to speak on issues of race and say they're not racist, well that cleared that one up. I feel though, they wouldn't call in about a subject on astro physics and put experts in their place on that subject, yet they are equally unqualified in both areas.

I feel fairly confident that I could predict the qualifications required for someone speak with authority on astrophyisics (Phd,research funding. articles in peer refereed journals) but I'm not sure what the equivalent person specification would be to speak about racism in the Royal Family with equivalent authority.

I mean...have these people never heard of Prince Philip? He's on the record for it.

Believe it or not we do have a regulator for broadcast, its called Ofcom. If you really step out of line you lose your licence, eg Iran's Press TV

Its not Daily Mail or Morning Star TV, at least not yet.

You are making this very specific. You are saying that middle-aged white people are not allowed critical debate on the subject of white people showing prejudice against black people as they are ' unqualified ' i.e... they are not the recipients of such prejudice, so therefore, don't understand it. By inference, you are also implying that younger white people are better qualified to speak about this matter, even though they are also not the recipients of the prejudice.
How, then, would you feel about middle aged black people ringing LBC and talking about the issue of anti-semitism, which is overt prejudice against a white race of people. Surely, based on your argument, they would be equally unqualified to talk about the longest running area of racism/racialism, oppression and hatred in world history. If I inferred that young black people are better qualified to speak about anti-semitism, than their respective elders, would that be fair?
What about centuries of racist behaviour toward Romany's and Gypsies? Overt prejudice shown against the Muslim community on a worldwide basis. Who is qualified to speak about this racism/racialism? What about the centuries of white slaves and white slave owners, or black slaves and black slave owners, over 3000 years of history. Who is qualified to speak about that? Racialism is the belief in the superiority of a particular race and antagonism between different races. It is global and there is as much white v white and black v black racism as there is black v white racism. Surely, we can all have critical debate about all of this? After all, we want more equality than more division in life, don't we?

We may well have, but it doesn't mean they do their job right.

Look at all the leftie biased.

BBC are cheating their customers.
https://reutersinstitute.politics.o...y-heres-what-research-tells-about-its-role-uk

I guess regulated content from the BBC, ITV, CH4 will always seem biased if you compared to the right propaganda pumped out by Murdoch & co.

I'd ban all cross media ownership in the UK, its out of hand. Little wonder the country is so easily gaslit
