Personalised plates don't do anyone any harm and some of them make me smile, like one local to me OBO110X.
:lolol:
This one or a very similar one made me laugh out loud when I saw it. It was on a Porsche and driving near Heathfield, this was over 20 years back.

Not on a car currently according to MOT history though

I do have a personalised plate on my Porsche - let the abuse begin :)

It spells my surname with no mis-spacing or spurious substitutions (well a number 1 for a letter I, but they are identical in the official number plate font)
Me too, so that’s two of us bell ends then 😂😂😂

Used to belong to Tim Dutton whose company made kit cars and also tried to market strange amphibious cars . Back in the late 80s he would pull up outside Jonesy's Bar in Worthing and try to impress the ladies.

Strange though, isn’t it, people buy rare books, 45s, collect art or have tattoos because they like them, but number plates perish the thought. 😂 live and let live, doesn’t harm anyone, does it?

Yes, except these aren't displayed for all the world to see. Plus other people might be interested in specific books, records etc. but nobody is interested in a reg plate like for example Y444EMM which is one I saw this week. I actually look out for them while driving as I find them a source of amusement and help pass the time on long journeys.

It is actually quite alarming how many there are out there.

EDIT - I'm not sure if the plate I saw was EXACTLY this but the last 3 letters were which I'm sure is the point.

There seems to be a vogue around this way of having a plate with the owners initials then 444 and then their wives/husbands initials/abbreviation. I guess it must be love.

As for those ridiculous 3d letters, even less point then a personalised plate!

So they do have a good purpose, they keep you amused on long journeys.

2 5LOW is currently registered to a 2016 Vauxhall Insignia. There must be a danger there that the plate's worth more than the car...

Take that point, whereby mine is three letters and three numbers both of which mean something to me, but yes, just me. I have a few cherished plates which I buy and sell very occassionally, i.e. FA66 ENG, not for everyone, but someone, one day, will pay a good price for it.

Even worse than a personalised plate. In my mid 20's I had a girlfriend who had a metallic blue XR3 convertible. A bit girl racer but what took the biscuit was the her name ' Amanda " emblazoned on the rear wing above the petrol cap. I tolerated it........................mainly as she had big tits!
