Now I've watched the replay, can see why it's a pen, f*** um
Thought Taylor was OKI didn't see the touch Saliba got. I'm guessing Taylor didn't either. That brings it into head clash territory. I'm not sure how it works then. But I would argue it probably isn't a penalty.
On a more comical note, it's a political quandary for some who were lamenting Taylor's biased performance
Cen we have a poll for the same situation but with Arsenal winning a penalty in our box ? Can we see what the Taylor thread would have looked like ?
I thought he seemed to favour Arsenal first half, lots of fouls awarded to them, then obvious ones like Rice on Ayari he’s waving play on.Thought Taylor was OK
Generally ,not just this specific incident
Mikel Arteta on the penalty: “It’s very disappointing.”
“I've never seen a decision like this in my career. I asked the boys, and they have never seen anything like it.”
Miss timed kick by Pedro at Villa.......pen given and i thought that was harsh. Karma
Exactly. It’s dangerous and out of control - just like the decisions we see with tackles. Also note, it’s him with his over aggressive bully boy defending that tries to foul Minteh in the build up - he panics and comes tearing in like a bull in a china shop. Clear pen.Pen for me. Touching the ball before hitting a player doesn't mean it's not a pen. If that's the rule for a foot, why not a head?

I have a neutral view of officials. I don't assume bias and just accept decisions, unless there was an obvious error. I saw two in this game, one where Minteh was denied progress for a foul I felt he didn't commit. Another where Pervis really should have been pulled up and booked for an aerial lunge into Rice.I thought he seemed to favour Arsenal first half, lots of fouls awarded to them, then obvious ones like Rice on Ayari he’s waving play on.
I wondered if he reviewed decisions he’d given at HT because the reverse seemed to be true. Perhaps refs can have a game of 2 halves too.
