The fact that you brought up us being the first team to win a league game at the Amex and then the semi final shows how much it still hurts. What made the semi final win all the better was the arrogant way that so many Wembley hotels were booked in advance, and of course the reaction when Glen injured his knee in the 1st leg

Its not about Glen, who showed his class on each occasion he scored against the other team, more how the away fans celebrated when he was injured in the first game. That was fact, not spread on the internet. You keep banging on about a 4-1 win in a league game that ended with us finishing above you, and we will still talk about winning games that really mattered

Why is it a disastrous release clause? Olise signed for another 4 years last summer, with an increased release clause. If we had not inserted a higher release clause, he would have been sold last summer, so we ended up with another year out of him

I agree that its what the buyer is willing to pay, and what the seller thinks a player is worth. For Wilf, even with his wages, he kept us in the premier league for a few extra seasons, which is worth a big sum of money, so we put a price on his head that no-one wanted to pay. Caciedo would still be at Brighton if the £115 million had not been bid, but would he have been happy?

True, but I’d also add “some fans”, a minority, most decent fans wouldn’t celebrate an injury of any player.

To be honest on our many, unsuccessful, play off semi finals I’d always booked a hotel for the final, in advance as it’s cheaper and can either be cancelled or given to a mate that’s going.

I am sure Palace fans have fond memories of the Play Off semi win. I also have very fond memories of winning 3-0 at Selhurst in '81 that kick started our amazing four wins in a row houdini style escape from relegation from the Old Prem. It also aided sending you down. That was a win that really mattered to us - and incidentally that was the worse case of racism at a football game I have seen when Palace constantly abused our Chris Ramsey - truly shameful.

At the time, losing the play- off game hurt like hell,I admit.

But, with hindsight it was probably the best thing that ccould happen, if it had been a team that wasn’t Palace.

We weren’t ready for the PL, and I truly believe we would have been embarrassed.

Much better to be promoted when we were, and be able to give the PL a good go.

I remember that game very well, palace were all but relegated before that game TBF.

Getting chased and chasing Brighton fans around South Norwood…. Don’t know what I would have done if I had caught or been caught as I was only 16 at the time

But what I really remember is meeting a female Brighton fan on the train home and ended up kissing and cuddling on the way home ( I did sort of know her as she was at my school) we met a few times after but it fizzled out. ( it wasn’t football that got in the way it was my punk look and love of punk music she didn’t like )
