Palace fan I know has been trying to reassure himself all summer and season so far that Glasner always starts slowly but they would be really performing by October as they start their run to European qualification. Took great pleasure in reminding him of that last night and that they only have one game left in October which is against Spurs.

Apparently as long as they keep faith with Glasner, they’ll now do a Bournemouth last season and finish 12th. Sights are being lowered every week and all the time Moysey is just sitting and waiting!

Probably true. This is going a bit off topic but looking at the table, I can't see us finishing ahead of the other 6 teams in the top 7. We are possibly in a battle to finish 7th (good enough for Europe) with Newcastle, Bournemouth, Fulham and Man Utd. I don't see Forest finishing above any of them (or us).


Anyway, back to the lols - if Roy Hodgson has retired, which clapped-out "safe pair of hands" will Palace turn to instead? Maybe Blackpool's Steve Bruce will want saving from his role managing a crap team in a two-bob ground where they like to play Glad All Over over the tannoy and are in the shadow of more successful neighbours.

Judging by last night’s performance, I can’t see Forest being in the top half mix next spring. They’ve had a fairly kind opening 8 fixtures and have played all of the current bottom 3.

It’s certainly worth a daydream. They don’t have a player like Zaha or Olise returning from injury to look forward to this time.

Just to sound a cautionary note, because previous experience of looking forward to Palace's demise seems to end the same way every time. We're currently twelve points ahead of them, but last season they caught that gap up in the last six games, taking sixteen points while we took four. This is their worst start since De Boer, but they even stayed up that year. They never seem to be in the mire without there being an out of work relegation battle specialist or former England manager somewhere twiddling their thumbs just waiting for a call from a mediocre EPL side willing to overspend on long contracts for old journeymen just to keep their heads above water.

Crystal Palace are the unflushable floater. No matter how many squares of toilet paper are rested on top of them before pulling the chain, they'll still be bobbing back up come May. When human civilisation comes to an end, Palace will be guaranteeing their survival by scabbing a one nil away win against the cockcroaches.

I realise that my opinion on this is biased, but I think Palace's problems have been under the surface for a few years now. They relied too heavily on Zaha and then Olise, for too long. They really struggled when either of those players weren't in the team. Losing Anderson in the summer didn't help them, and I genuinely think Guehi and Eze are overated. They're decent enough, but Eze is not good enough to carry the team like Olise did, and Guehi always has a mistake in him. Losing the key players and not having invested in their squad over a the last few years is really going to cost them. The only thing that might save them, is there are 3 other teams finding it equally hard. It says something about the bottom 4, when you're now looking at Everton and thinking "they'll probably be ok".

Uncle Tony looked into this, worked out that of the 3 getting promoted Leicester had the best chance of avoiding relegation if they just had a star #10 and did the best he could to solve that for them.

We just need Wolves to sort themselves out now. Potential loan of Welbeck to them in January? Just for the LOLs...

Looking at Palace's starting 11 there were arguably 5 or 6 players who wouldn't start a match for any other PL team, add that to a paper thin squad with a severe lack of quality and they are just a couple of injuries away from a full on collapse. They are already 5pts shy of Everton in 16th. Long may it continue and hopefully it gets incredibly toxic very soon. The 60 odd million they were offered for Guehi is also starting to look incredibly foolish in turning down.
