On the face of it we’ve done well but if he turns out to be a £40m in a couple of years have we?
Think we might have rather brought him into the squad with a view to easing him into the team but don’t think he was prepared to sit on the bench waiting for his opportunity with us.

Maybe true, but from what ive seen he's not a very Potter player. More an old school tackle and clear it defender than being good with his feet and playing it out from the back.

I agree. More Duffy than, say, Velts

I had hoped when we sold White that it would pave the way for Ostigard but to get game time ahead of Dunk, Webster & Veltman always was unlikely hence the loan.

Potter has shown he is bold enough to play individuals when they are ready especially talented midfielders

Well, JPVH above Ostigard in our pecking order now so have to say happy with this if true

Medical completed. £4.2M (5M euros presumably?) according to SSN. Very good business by Napoli, who've just trousered £33M for their outgoing 31 year old CB. Hope we've got a good sell on clause (as well as some useful add-ons).

Naylor is the one to believe not SSN. Naylor says deal is worth £10mil including add-ins.

I know I am an old fart but I can't be alone is being amazed that we have just sold out 6th (?) best centre back to Napoli. NAPOLI.

Unlikely he’s that far down. Just not guaranteed in our top 2. He’s probably only behind Dunk, Webster and Veltman. He’d have played plenty of football this year IMO.

The best centre back at the club - joke decision.

Club said “they couldn’t guarantee (him)…regular football” in their statement or promise he would become a “permanent player” . So only conclusion is he wasn’t in Potters plans, wouldn’t have played plenty of football - hence the sale.

Not really. Just couldn’t guarantee him regular football - think there is only about 6 players in our squad we could guarantee that with the way we chop and change.

Isn’t this related to the manager likely picking Veltman , Dunk, Webster and Cucurella (or a replacement Cucurella who can be a left wing back or CB) ahead of you especially with JPVH in the mix.
OR simply potter doesn’t need him.

So a player who has barely played any time for us is contracted on in a deal worth as much as £10m.

I'm still not used to this.
