Sounds to me like he doesn't want to drop a division, not that we didn't offer him enough money. I can't believe we'd agree to pay a fee for a player and then not offer him what he wants in wages.
I can. If the club have a pay structure in place, they're unlikely to want to break it for some nobody in the Ipswich Town reserves.

We'll just have to make do with some small child loan signing we've never heard of. As expected. *sigh*

I must have missed where it says he travelled down here...

Thought is said in the argus yesterday he was travelling down for a medical and to discuss personal terms. Maybe wrong though.

Albion set to sign Ipswich midfielder
By Andy Naylor
ALBION are poised to complete the capture of Ipswich midfielder George O'Callaghan.

The Seagulls have agreed a fee of around £60,000 for the Republic of Ireland playmaker, with a further £15,000 to be paid depending on appearances.

O'Callaghan is heading south to discuss personal terms and the deal should be completed tonight or tomorrow.

You don't suppose the whole agreeing a fee with Brighton bit in the press was simply a way of alerting any other clubs to his availability and make them make a move. Hence the names of all the other clubs interested in him.

Ipswich midfielder turns down Albion
By Andy Naylor
GEORGE O'Callaghan this morning rejected a move to Albion, according to sources in Ipswich.

The 27-year-old Republic of Ireland midfielder could not agree personal terms after the clubs agreed a fee of around £60,000, rising to £75,000 depending on appearances.

The Seagulls could now switch attention to Leicester's transfer-listed Scottish midfielder Stephen Hughes ahead of the transfer window closing for permanent signings and long-term loans at midnight tomorrow.

Mind you, Hughes has always impressed me AND he is GINGER (though he is meant to be joining Hearts).

Possibly he turned us down after realising he would no longer be a player but a magnet on Dean's white board. Im sure he wouldn't have turned us down if we had a recognised manager in charge. :censored:

I can't help but think Wilkins lack of footballing contacts is shooting us in the foot somewhat.
