Those who are moaning that the board are too tight to pay the wages, answer me this.

How do you know that what O'Callaghan is demanding is reasonable? What if he, as a Championship fringe player with comparatively little Football League experience, is asking for five grand a week, for example? Hypothetically speaking, of course.

Are you suggesting that the club should just pay up, for the sake of signing a new player? What if he turns out to be crap, I bet you'll be the first ones complaining about that overpaid crock of shite in midfield.

The club has to pay what they think is fair, and bears some resemblance to the going rate, not just jump at the first demand made by any journeyman. It's called negotiation, guys, and I don't blame Wendy or the board for refusing to pay if they don't think the player is worth it.

Paul Kitson, anyone?
 I suspect he is after the best deal possible (SHOCK) and may see if a better offer comes before deciding if our offer will be ok for him. not exactly rocket science

So presumably he;ll remain on whatever wages his current Ipswich contract is paying him. As NMH says, this now gives him an opportunity to prove whether he is indeed worth more. Or not.
