Yes Schindler's List, ET, Close Encounters and Duel were utter shite

Schindler's List was a heavy-handed and unsubtle rendition of one of the best books ever written. To be fair it should never have been filmed at all because no director could have done the subject matter justice and with the correct respect due. With 100,000 more words to play with, Thomas Keneally was able to do that.

ET is a kid's movie. I'm not a kid. So why should I give a shit about it?

Close Encounters was OK in its day, but has dated somewhat.

Duel is not bad.

But I agree whole-heartedly about Yes. They were utter shite.

" a top 10 of most irritatingly unlikely scenario films though "

Yes but a film about 7am, got up felt a bit shit, 8am had a coffee and watched the news, 8.30 am had a shit, 9am went to work, 9-5pm was at work, boring, 6pm got home had a drink and a fag, 7pm had fish and potatoes for tea, 8pm-11pm watched TV, 11pm went to bed

Would be pretty fecking shit as well.

I go to the Cinema to watch unlikely outrageous scenario's. When Russell Crowe slaughtered half a dozen man mountains in Gladiator I did not stand up and shout, "that would never have happened in real live you know ".

You do have a point, although they may be a bit naff they are not that bad that they should be on a worst ever nomination, I guess.

It's a reaction against the hype they receive. Everyone bangs on about what a brilliant movie Jaws is, but I was just bored by it. In my mind, wooden ham acting interspersed with a wobbly rubber fish-shaped model flapping against the side of a boat does nothing to build tension and does not a great film make.

To be fair, if I had a choice between watching that again or sitting through Police Academy 7: Mission to Moscow, then it plainly isn't the worst film ever made. But plucking my own eyes out may become an attractive alternative...

Maybe Baby.
I'd rather see a believable romance between Vin Diesel and Bella Emburg.

Jaws was a brillian tfilm. A mistake throughout, which is why its so good.

So man gets in car, pisses off driver of juggernaut who then chases terrified shit driver, who hasn't got the nous to outwit a truck for an hour and a half and then big crash happens, is interesting?????

If that is not what the film was about, I apologise but I watched it about 20 years ago and that is how I remember it

Ghostbusters 2.
What a bleeding unhaunted letdown. Losers lost in their own self-painted heroics must learn the value of ghouls and men arm in see-through arm. What cockish cack. Love don't cure. It hurts us more than any other feeling i can think or mouth.

Now lets get real and stop nominating reasonable or plain good films in this thread. This is where it gets real

Bewitched 2.4

Utter Utter Gash which was an achievement as the TV shows are good. Somehow took $ 80 000 000 at the US box office but it was shite from start to finish and very weak.

I agree, but the tv show was middling penile spillage itself. I hated him, her, her mother, their mute child and all the artful, rebelious moments she gave up to become a human turd.
Her mother, the actress, i liked as she had been in Citizen Kane and one of Welles working group in the 40s.

Worthing
Legends of the Fall

Sweet Home Alabama (even allowing for the cuteness of Reese Witherspoon)

Mainly because was 'dragged' to see both at cinema. At least if they were on tv could have ignored them.
