Along with Buenos Aires that is one of the places that I am definitley going to go to one day, sooner rather than later hopefully as I'm sure the 60's vibe with the cars and the decaying buildings will start to change as soon as Castro dies.

Been to Havana...top place me hearties - and Cienfuegos is cool too.
Agree with LB about Siena, also loved Venice (in March, not summer).

Will add Tokyo, Madrid, Seville and Prague to my list o' nominations.

Having given my opening gambit of Berlin, then spending the day at work, it struck me that I have actually lived in several cities, namely; London, Edinburgh, Maastricht and now Gloucester.

Of that lot Maastricht is easily the best, for lots of reasons...easy to travel from there to lots of different parts of Europe, it is right by the Belgian border and only a short distance from Germany...bars, restaurants and nightlife are all good, carnival in the spring for a week of mad drunken-ness in fancy dress, continental climate in the summer with evenings warm enough to sit in the square and watch the World go by, very friendly locals and a picturesque city centre....only drawback is that the local dialect is almost unintelligible, even to someone with a more than fair understanding of Dutch....but that is a minor gripe.

I can't believe Firenze hasn't been mentioned by anyone else yet.

P.S. DTG, might be able to get hold of a ST for the Artemio Franchi next season if you're interested in going out there for a game or two next season. ;)

There are some funny cities being mentioned here.

Auckland is one of the most boring places on Earth IMO. Nothing to do, crap night-life, no public transport system, nothing for tourists. An the weather is average.

Hanoi is grim compared to Ho Chi Minh City... it's very dirty & doesn't really have much going for it.

And Christchurch is about the same size as Hurstpierpoint...

Couldn't agree more about Firenze but don't go in the middle of summer - like Venice & Rome - spring is best.

Would also recommend (as others may have already) Bath, Berlin, Brighton, Copenhagen (if someone else is paying - eg 'Work'), Cork, Edinburgh, Hong Kong, Sevilla, St Petersburgh and Sydney (go for St Patrick's Day).

Worst place I've been is Taipei - nice people but the city is terrible. Guy next to me on the plane on my first trip out described it as 'Hong Kong built by Americans' - believe me it's worse and draught beer is served from bottles?

For me:

Prague
Hong Kong
Bangkok - much more to it than the girlie bars etc etc
Amsterdam - much more to it than the drugs etc etc
Sydney - if you ignore the nanny state culture and minority of extremely arrogant wankers that live there.
