Boycotting is absolutely ridiculous. You aren't going to watch because the chairmen isn't spending enough. We all know the club is very very very hard up for cash so you're deciding to take more away...

But then your critisism is that the money we do have is all going to Falmer and not on players. Well for a start how do we know how much money is in this 'Falmer Pot'?

I could argue with that till the cows come home. But there is one key thing I just don't understand. You are saying you don't want to go because we don't have ambition to get to the Championship and we are just putting all our money into Falmer. Yet I BET we'll see you at Falmer saying 'I've been a brighton fan for x years'. So you are going to come to Falmer, because then we will have passion to get promoted, but in the mean-time you're nt going to put any money in because Falmer (our long term future) is something you don't want to spend our money on but will happily visit.

I very much appreciate the job Knight is doing for us, balancing the books. Do you want to go under like Luton or someone? He is managing this club sensibly. If we started getting into debt then we are going to become an even lesser attraction for people wanting to invest! If we take it out of this mystical 'Falmer Pot' then what about when we are trying to secure our long term future. How annoyed are you going to be when Falmer is delayed because we, perhaps, don't have the money.

I would LOVE to see the chairmen spend a million pounds and get a team that looks amazing and plays great football. But we've got to remember that our number one goal has to still be keeping the team afloat. I don't think our board are stupid, I think they've probably done their sums. I expect they have worked out how much we'd have to invest to get to the Championship and get the money back quickly from gate reciepts, bonuses etc. The number is probably too high.

Does it matter what terminology you use but the money could be used to the benefit of the team and would then in all probability show an increase in the gate which in turn brings in more money.

What is it with people on here.

Increase in gates .... for how f**king long considering how fickle our fans appear to be at the moment, and more importantly what sort of return would an increase in gates give us for £1million of your finest english pounds.
Anyway, it's not our f***ing money ... it belongs to the directors to do as they see fit and provided they don't do anything illigal it's fine by me.

£25 for a ticket, I don't like it, my wife certainly doesn't like it, and neither does anyone else ... so tough shit. That's life in blue and white stripes.

As for Dk, yeah he's screwed up a couple of times but if you had to deal with the likes of the Bloom's and Derek Chapman, The Argus, Harty and the fans, would you.

cjd lives up to his name, the rest of the anti brigade would complain if DK turned water into wine, because he turned into a Merlot rather than a poxy shiraz.

A million quid on a quick fix and people wonder why we have a credit squeeze, Every penny counts and being TIGHT is the correct attitude.

Get a set of company accounts, someone who undertsands them and then work out how you would keep the club afloat 'without' spending anything on players etc. When you've done that work pout how you are going to get money for players, put it in a business plan and get your arse down to Dk and explain it to him.

If you go to a bank and ask for a mortgage on a £200k property, you don't ask to borrow £250k so you can also f*** off on a holiday and buy a flash car. THAT is effectively what you are suggesting the Albion do.

Get REAL.[/QUOTE]

Easy - you do, there called Northern Rock.

Got to love the modern day fan not only are they more tactically astute than a trained and experienced football manager but now they have the knowledge and experience to run a football league club on peanuts.

NOBODY on here knows exactly what is required to run this club and indeed for all anyone knows on here Dick Knight (given the resources) could be one of the best chairman in the football league.

It seems to be the trend to ignore the situation we are in and forget that you actually know sweet FA about financing and running a club before proceeding to criticise the chairmans handling of the club.

In regard to the players of course they want to be successful but lets be fair we have lost 2 players that featured significantly in the first half of the season. OC has been replaced by a more experienced player who will add to the squad and Bas was more of a bit part striker who I feel we will replace before the window closes. The Hammond situation will resolve itself one way or another and when the time comes we will deal with it and move on like the club has always done.

However its easy to have a pop at the chairman but bearing in mind the only noticeable change to our starting 11 is Thomson instead of OC then is it not about time the players stopped blaming the board for the dip in form and took a long hard look at themselves?

What part don,t you "buy"....?

I think he probably means that you're a "glory hunter" trying to justify the fact that you can't be bothered to go by claiming it some sort of political act.
Which is true

Every time I come on here for a quick look, which is rarely these days, I think that maybe things will have changed. But no, same old idiots saying the same old negative things. It will be interesting to see what you all find to moan about once we get Falmer and are playing well with decent crowds.

Actually, no it wont.

Can we just get sopmething straight here.

If you get a loan from a bank to undertake a specified activity (such as building a community stadium). then that money HAS TO BE SPENT ON THE NAMED AND AGREED ACTIVITY, ie building the stadium.

OH, AND TO GET BACK TO THE ORIGINAL SUBJ. I have highlighted the relevant bit

hERE'S WHAT fORSTER SAID IN THEarGUS...

Top scorer Forster, 34, said: "I am one of the more experienced players at the club and I came to Brighton not wanting just to coast along.

"I want to push forward and get back up into the Championship where I feel I can play and the club can go.

"At the moment the ambition from the club doesn't seem to mirror that and I think that is the reason why Dean Hammond is reserving judgement.

advertisement
"The way I see it, and I think the way all the players see it, is that there is no doubt about it, if Dean Hammond gets the assurances that the club will strengthen the squad and make a push for promotion then he will sign.

"From speaking to him I have got no doubt in my mind about that but he obviously at the moment isn't getting the assurances that the club are going to do that.

"He sees that he could have another few years in this division (League One) and for a young player captaining the side, playing well week in and week out he wants to do the best he can.

"I think it would be with a very heavy heart that he would leave this club but, for the sake of his future, he might feel that he needs to."

So now that we have spent £300k on a player I expect to see all the moaning wan*ers back at Withdean on Saturday 2nd February for the Crewe game. Of course they wont, they will find another excuse. We have now bought Thomsom a captain of a Scottish Premiership team, paid good money for a young striker to go alongside another of this seasons new signings Forster.

What more do some of you want. Now perhaps you realise the club does have some money for team strengthening so perhaps Savage was asking for stupid money eh? I havnt seen him manage to fix up a club yet, they will laugh him out the stadium as he demands to be paid equal wages to a teams top scorer and a three year deal and to be captain. Our 18 month contract must look good to him now.

People will say I am blinkered because I go home and away regardless of whats on the pitch, I call that loyalty. True supporters dont just give up because they have the hump! The thing that winds me up more than a poor Albion display is the Albion crowd at Withdean. I think we have easily the most moaning supporters in the division. Knight delivered his promise to get us back from Gillingham to Sussex which he did, we now have permission for another of his promises in Falmer, now we have strengthened the squad as promised. What more do some of you want????

So name somebody that can come in take control and have millions to invest in players and the stadium????

Not much changed in 11 years. I know some people post to see who they can wind up and get a bite from but this is just pure and utter bollocks! 11 years ago we were bottom of the football league, had no ground, no players and the club was falling apart.

If I was DK I would say right f*** it you lot run this club and watch it sink out of trace as Falmer money gets spent on players, we dont go up, the moaners stay away as we should automatically go up as bought players, so we cant afford Falmer and we are still not in the Premiership or Champions league! We then end up homeless, no players and the club is falling apart.

DK has my support. Football fans demand and expect instant success, it doesnt work like that! Number one goal must be Falmer.

Excuse me as that was 11 years ago and since then i would like to have seen some capital and ambition in that 11 years. Not interested what position we was in when dick took over as its now what matters???

Plenty of investers about waiting for falmer to be built, the two latest clubs are QPR and swindon and they look very healthy now.You need to open you're eyes and look at the dozens of succesfull clubs of late that have moved on instead of the clubs in crisis.

Far more succeful storys that grim storys in football these days,we as a club have not made any progress in over a decade and although falmer is near its still to far away???

Its you're choice like many on here to keep looking back to 97 and being grateful, but also many look forward with ambition. To awnser you're question nobody will take over us now as we have pathetically very high debts yet again.:drink:

Where do you want it to be? Feckin' READING? Will that do?

as a club have not made any progress in over a decade

YOU are the one that keeps banging on about DK's time at the Club. YOU are the one that claims he's achieved nothing "in over a decade".

The rest of us HAVE moved on and ARE looking forward.

With ambition.

I have read some clueless rubbish on NSC over the past few weeks, but that is gold medal stuff. Congratulatons! Thank God you have nothing to do with running the Albion.

We then end up homeless, no players and the club is falling apart.

I thought that was the position we were in 11 years ago.

When I was getting dripped on under a leaking roof at Priestfield watching us getting tonked by Darlington as we were second bottom of the league and transporting the players in the back of a Ford Escort, if you'd told me then that within ten years I would be back in Brighton watching my team win two championships, win a play off final in front of 67,000, employing one former England manager and probably the best English coach in the country in Coppell, selling two players for over a million pounds, bringing one three players good enough to play for England U.21s and looking forward to starting a new begining an a brand spanking new state of the art stadium, I don't know when I would have stopped laughing at you.

40,000 extra fans at £25 each, which seems a lot, but for a team getting gates of 5500 in a 'stadium' with capacity of 9,000, if we were in with a chance of automatic promotion we should be able to fill at least another 2,000 seats per game if not why have we gone all through the problems to get Falmer. Might just as well have stayed at Withdean if the support and potential support is that bad.
