I am so utterly astounded by how good the game was today and how well we played, that I barely have any words for it. Sensational win
What's been nice, is that these last two games against Plucky and Newcastle is that they've both involved two teams doing that rare thing and playing football to try and win the match.

After so many games of attack v defence, it's so much more fun to watch two teams going at each other hammer and tong.

Super display of football from both teams today

It's like 1983 all over again !!!!.............surely.........Norwich, Newcastle ;)
Strangely, Newcastle had two goals disallowed in that game too. Could it be our year?

That's why we are generally better against good teams. They believe their players are as good/better than ours, so actually try to play football. That gives us a chance to show how good we are.
When we learn how to beat the anti-football teams we will be challenging the Liverpools and Man Citys of this world.

Really

Looked to me like they were 11 behind the ball a lot of the time. We did well to break them down.

What a thoroughly good football match! Some random disorganised thoughts:

Much like the Bournemouth game, it really could’ve gone either way and neither side could have any complaints. Incredibly even game with both teams having spells of attacking pressure.

They ran their collective bollocks off. Several looked absolutely shattered. Pedro was gassed after an hour, and ended up playing another 70+ minutes. He’ll sleep well tonight!

Some good individual performances, but MOTM Webster for me again, for the second match running. He was quite brilliant and summed up the industry and effort from the lads. Pinged some good passes around and made some crucial blocks.

Mitoma had a real off day. Constantly losing the ball, making bad choices and his passing was awful. Is there any news on his injury? I really hope it’s not serious, as he’s such a critical player for us in the run in, and has been in electric form.

Absolutely no argument with either red card. Lamptey very foolish, a lapse of concentration to let the ball run, then a bad decision to bring down their forward. Clear second yellow. And a clear straight red for Gordon for violent conduct.

Aside from this though, Baleba could’ve very easily gotten a second yellow and was rather fortunate to benefit from some very lenient refereeing from Anthony Taylor today in regards to “professional fouls”. There must’ve been 4 or 5 pull backs which would usually be bookings, for both sides. Baleba was seconds from a red and had to be subbed, no question.

Bart back looking much more confident, and every bit the future world class goalkeeper many of us have suggested. Did much better with crosses today and is growing in belief by the minute.

What a goal from Welbeck  I have no idea what Tino Livramento was doing playing him onside, but I’ll take it. Welbeck was excellent after coming on.

Bring on the quarter finals!

Wow what a win.
Bad fan didn't watch, as decorating 🤨
Just viewed highlights, I didn't think that Lampteys red card was all that.
Newcastle player dived late!
Anthony Gordon defo pen.
What Gordon should have been given a penalty for hitting JPVH in the face???

Do you mean Livramento definite Pen, because yes that was.

Lamptey needs to be dropped until the end of the season. Has cost us the game. Unforgivable!!!!!
Firstly don't be daft he is playing really well, and defenders are always on the line regarding a second yellow, he should have been subbed off. Secondly, what was that about losing the game.
