I see - would be delighted just to progress to the semi-finals but slightly worried about this going into the quarters
Yeah, not sure what to make of this rule really, especially when refs are so card happy these days. Bournemouth are going to have to face City without Kerkez and Huijsen - Kerkez getting booked for being assaulted by Cunha apparently - which is going to make their task a lot harder

Kerkez and Huijsen are both unavailable for the City game? That's Bournemouth out then

Matterface pronouncing Newcastle "New-cassel" like he was from chuffin' Gateshead - can't stand him.
This grates for me as well, mainly because its the only word he pronounces with the (attempted) geordie /mackem accent. It just sounds so out of place in his speech, like he is faking it -surely not!

Interesting afternoon for me. Had to tape the game and avoid hearing the score.

Fast forwarded to half time 1-1. Watching the second half was agony as we spurned some good chances and delighted when it was 10 v 11 as we started to dominate, then Lamptey was sent off and they "scored" with seconds remaining I stormed off upstairs in a massive strop only to return to find it was 1-1 and extra time.

After the Welbeck goal I couldn't bear to watch the remaining 7 minutes and fast forwarded keeping my eyes on the scoreline -- - never felt so nervous and relieved when I saw us celebrate the final whistle. Not a recommended way to watch the Albion it would have been much better on my heart to have just checked the final score !

Very much the same, had to go out so recorded the whole match on my humax receiver, stayed away from all media so I wouldn’t hear the result, noticed when hitting the ‘record’ button that the recording would end at 16.25, waited for a few minutes after the machine stopped recording, then turned the television on only to hear and see Wrighty and Roy Keane talking about Welbez’s fantastic winner !! Still, spent all evening watching and analysing the whole match and recorded the final bit of the program to watch after the game.
One of the very best matches I’ve seen since the FA cup semi at Highbury 40 plus years ago. Great game and our support, well deserved.

Club highlights are on Youtube:

Most other highlights haven't shown the lead up to the winning goal. I'd realised at the time that the, virtually out on his feet, Joao Pedro had gone through the pain to press after the clearance that Gruda chased. I hadn't realised that it was also him who made the overhead clearance in the first place. Well done my son.

Sussex but not by the sea

It was a clear red and clearly for violent conduct = 3 games.
I reckon Isak is now properly injured too, he looked to be holding his groin, that could be their season pretty much over if he's out for a few weeks and calls Smuggie's decision making into question if he took a risk with him at such a crucial time in their season. Shame.

Funniest outcome is that they do appeal, and an extra game is added for it being frivolous. It’s the reddest of reds.

I saw a Toon fan in the comments on the BBC article saying that even if they couldn't get the red overturned with their appeal, the FA might still reduce the ban from three matches to one :lolol:

Where to even start with that?!

The offside goal is odd how they only looked at Schar IMO. There's three Newcastle players in the box in offside positions as the ball is played. Murphy (I think) is just stood bang in the middle and should be flagged.
Love the image of the toon fan flicking the double Vs and shouting F.O. at the albion fans before the goal was chalked off 🤣

That's what was being discussed on Sky Sports with Dermot Gallagher.

What did he have to say? There is absolute no precedent for this happening. He was sent off for violent conduct - it’s either 3 games or nothing.
He was asked the question by the interviewer and said it was a different scenario. He didn't qualify how that would work out, but it seems that is the thinking from Newcastle.

I thought this too. It seemed a clear and obvious offside when the kick was taken, multiple players off.
