I’m still seeing it, with a poster above blaming the situation in Israel and the West alternately for anger amongst Muslims committing these atrocities. It’s not a defence, but certainly a deflection of moral culpability.

This specific attack is a Muslim issue. It needs to be stamped out within Islamic communities. End of. If the attacks had been committed in the name of “religion” by extremist Jews, Christians, Hindus or Sikhs it would be the moral responsibility of people in those communities to actively condemn and root out the kind of rhetoric which “inspires” people to commit these kind of atrocities.
Well, exactly

The bit I struggle with when it comes to reform filling the void is that rather ironically they share many views with Islamists, but for some reason it is not really picked up. If you look at opinion polls on social views then look at reform voters compared to others. Things like gay rights, trans rights, gender roles in society, capital punishment, corporal punishment etc you will see that reform voters are more like “traditional Muslim” views than other groups. Strange times.

I agree that Israel/Palestine is the kindling for a lot of extremists but I don't think that's why ISIS etc. sprang to life, it's much more to do with promoting their own twisted view of Islam that is completely intolerant of anything else. Thankfully it is a small minority but you don't need a majority to push a vile agenda and encourage those of a weak mind to follow.
ISIS ” sprangto life “ following the fall of Saddam Hussein and took in a lot of ex saddam supporting islamists who felt aggrieved that the west in particular had brought about their demise. It provided a warped view of society that appealed to a lot of not previously radicalised people ( including a lot from the uk) and took it upon themselves to punish the west for this. Even the tabilan are seen by them as weak heretics, so what chance to we stand.

Slightly off subject, have the BBC given most of their staff the week off? Happened upon this story on BBC news channel whilst looking for news of the weather and floods up north, which sounded bad. Seems the BBC had no one available to cover this or any news stories in the UK.

It’s the main story on the front page

So we reward the "evil bastards" for all they've done by removing/annihilating the only tiny democratic state in the region? The only safe place for Jews in the region they're indigenous to?
Not only does that seem a little wrong headed but do you you seriously think the militant Islamists will immediately stop hating us & live in harmony with the west & each other & begin to treat their own subjects less savagely?
There is quite a lot of middle ground between the current status quo of Israel smashing Gaza into tiny pieces and the annihilation of Israel. You know, like a true two state solution, and we in the west stop taking one side over the other. Would be a good starting point.

Won't work though will it. I think we're trying to find an actual solution rather than pointing fingers?

I think nearly everyone wants a 2 state solution. Oh, except for the Arabs and the Israelis.
Therein lies the problem.

I find the timing of these incidents a little too covenient, in the same month Trump will be sworn in as President, up pop ISIS with a terror attack. A pre-cursor to his mass deportation program, get the public on side. Just like the boat crossings only became a thing once Bojo became PM and Farage left UKIP once Brexit was voted for. Distract / Pull the electorate to the right to get any sort of Brexit done

Well the Trump hotel incident is a serving member of the US Army and old Facebook posts seem to indicate he’s a VERY big supporter of Trump…. Maybe not happy with the tie up with Elon ?

Convenient, as in New Year's eve when Bourbon Street is guaranteed to be jammed with infidels partying? Of course, if they were going to attack people in Bourbon Street they'd choose a rainy Tuesday morning in late February.

He was accused of spreading islamaphobia. Are you being pedantic?
He’s just a bit dense. Doesn’t read posts, consider and understand their content, and starts replying after reading the first sentence. He said himself he’s a moron.

Charming. I asked a question. I wasn’t rude to you, so why all these personal insults?

I admitted I made a mistake. What gives?

You took the opportunity to like a post calling me personally an Islamophobe, and when I challenged this baseless potentially libellous accusation you doubled down by either not having read my reply/the original post, in an effort to score points. It was bang out of order.
