What the feck is going on?

What is going on is that someone has placed more speculated crap online as fact, using the video as 'evidence'. It's really irritating.

'Police have yet to confirm the incident was caused by a bomb or fireworks, but two sources with knowledge of the investigation told the BBC's US partner CBS News that investigators were working to determine whether fireworks were responsible for the truck explosion'

In other words, they don't know but are looking at different scenarios

NYPD arrested two men in possession of batteries and fireworks. They charged one and let the other one off.

January 1st too. Normally have to wait until November for a chance to re-post that gag.
Should it not be: ...two men in charge of batteries and fireworks, respectively?
Because if each men is carrying both, the gag breaks down a bit.

A big issue to me is the absolute refusal from (mostly white, middle class) liberals to accept there is a problem with certain groups wanting to inflict terror upon people in the West. They continue to defend the very people that hate them and want them dead.

I’d love to hear one or two specific member’s defence of this latest mass terroristic murder.

RIP to the victims, and may the offender rot

Can I ask @Han Solo what you find funny about this mass murder tragedy?

I think folk accept it. They just don't know what to do about it. And this is where the extremes can gather ground. Thus we have the toxic divisions in society we have.

You mention about people defending this incident. I think that's an amplification of your anger at it. No-one will defend it. But folk, rightly, want to protect innocents who could be targeted because of it. It's well documented that attacks on certain minority groups occur when something happens. Last summer here is the perfect example.

My feelings when I read the news today were twofold. One, that evil scum had killed innocent people and it needs to stop. Two, that Trump and his nasty groupies can't wait to put the boot into folk that their ignorant minds conveniently consider in some way of a similar ilk. I wouldn't be comfortable walking around in a mostly white town tonight over there if I had a middle eastern appearance. So it's not a defence but a fear of escalation. It's unfair to somehow muddy the two because it creates the divisions that are pursued by the extremes.

Most folk in this society are similar in their thinking- namely that we should judge an individual on character alone and not mark groups of people because of the sins of the few. The difficulty occurs where cultural ideals and ideologies clash and especially when incidents such as this occur. I think we have been mostly shielded in this country, although this is due to the plural monoculturalism we adopt. In itself this in acceptance that multiculturalism doesn't work without compromise. That's a discussion which needs to be had away from the heat of a tragedy like this for a clearer mind.

I can't imagine you will find anyone defending this attack.

Perhaps if you have posters in mind, you could DM them and do your political point scoring with them in private?

For context, its also worth noting that by far the bigger issue in the US is white Americans who contribute around 80% of all mass shootings over there.

They must be one of the 'certain groups" JC Denton is referring to

I'm one of your liberals, and there is clearly a problem. Terrorism can't be defended. Where you and I may differ then is what to do about it. You may want to round up all Muslims preemptively, I believe that goes against human rights. and tarring them all with the same brush is likely to exacerbate the problem in the first place. You may think we need to bomb them more in the middle east, wipe out Gaza and Iran and so on, I think this would be war crimes and again, would just exacerbate the problem.

I believe all this is linked to the single issue in the middle east, Israel, and if we are serious about reducing Islamic terrorism in the west we should withdraw all support for Israel. Some may see this as giving in to terrorists. But these people really care.

But I really don't want to get into another Israel debate. Just want to point out that we do care and do recognise the problem. It's awful what is happening and what people are doing in the name of their cause

Sugar Bowl now scheduled for 3:00 p.m. US Central time (9:00 p.m. GMT) on January 2, 2025. I'm intrigued at what the Sugar Bowl and New Orleans authorities will do to acknowledge the tragedy but keep it a solemn event.

There was a moment of silence before the New Orleans Pelicans at Miami Heat NBA game this afternoon in Miami.

This is Israel's fault?
Isis, Manchester bombing, 7.7, 9.11, Iranian sponsored terror, the rest. Israel's fault?
I'm pretty liberal too but f***ing hell ..
