Sorry to piss on your little fire, but you're wrong. People were moaning when there had been NO MENTION of any free places (which should have been made clear in the release).

now that has been clarified, I've seen nothing but approval.

Edit:

And your maths is well shit.

Seats (2 adult and one child) = c£70.00
3 x 'meals' @ £6.50 = £19.50
Full child'skit = c£60.00

Cost of privilage = £100
Well the lesson learnt then, is probably best to find out the details on an offer, before reading something in a way to suit your own agenda and pissing and whining about it all afternoon. :tosser:

Maybe lesson learnt for me is not to take Bozza maths (I did say someone else, but something else you read how you wanted to see it so you could have a dig at me that my maths is shit)as my example, but £50/£100 to be a mascot, when in the past you had very little chance, is hardly worth the tears and snot you were dispensing earlier.

EDIT

Minimum:
Kit = 52.97
Meal x3 soft drink meal deals = 18
Tickets = 77

£149.97 (experience = £100.03)

Maximum
Kit = 55.97
Meal 1 soft drink, 2 pints = 20
Tickets = 117

£192.97 (experience = £57.03)

This doesn't factor in extra cost for administration, supervisor/organiser
£50/£100?!?!?

Acker79 quote has made you out to be a bigger :tosser: then before, as again you presume they'll be the shit seats to suit your own agenda, so £100 as I originally quoted may in fact be the case...... give or take 3p :tosser:

Not one of your better days is it Hans. :bigwave:

In fairness, last season the seats nearest the north stand (the cheapest option) were reserved for general sale/moved south east STH, so last year I would have said the cheap option, this season I don't know if that is the case because of the moved away support and the expanded corners, so I imagine the tickets will tend to be wherever there is space for them.

Having said that, since the mascots meet at the tunnel, I would think logistically it makes sense to have the mascots as close as possible, i.e. centrally, and with the prices being charged I'd imagine the cheaper seats would result in some bad word of mouth for the offer.

matchday mascots rip off?

is it just me or is this now just another money making exercise i was lucky enough in the early 90s to do it twice back then it was free and just the once of you making it a very special occasion as you were if you like the special one, but now if id like my son to do the same it will cost at least £250 for the privilege im not sure how they work it now for away games like i did back then you just wrote to junior seagulls as was and they gave you a choice of games, I might sound like 30 going on 75 but back then it realy wasnt all about the money was it?.

Not a rip off at all, we've gone from having one mascot to 11. Eight of the 11 will be paid for, 2 will come from Gully's Gang (free) and one from AITC.

By my reckoning that makes all potential Gully gang mascots TWICE as likely to get to be one, and 8 paying to be there.

When I was a match mascot I had to share the game with some kid who was somehow linked to the match sponsors. I was a little annoyed because all the league matches had only one mascot.

These days multiple mascots aren't so rare.

Perhaps it can be a mix: one young seagull mascot (free) plus one paid for mascot.

In my day, all mascots were selected before the start of the season and we would all go in on a day before the start of the season to complete forms (so they had info for the programme), collect our kits and pose in said kit for programme photos. If all the free mascots are selected pre-season, people will know they haven't been selected and that if the want the experience they have to pay.

Ooh, I was so close, just didn't think big enough.

Sounds like common business sense, we get 3 free mascots as to one before, and if ppl wanna pay to see thier kids walkout, then thats fine by me, more money in the coffers, means higher wages if need to bring in better player in the transfer window.

This. It's great news for fans, parents, children and the club!

The consensus on Twitter is that the club are taking the piss, but that's because most people don't understand there's double the number of free GG spots available than there was. This comes down to a poor article online by the club which is making them look worse than they are. Shame

And thats the main reason why this thread has gone to 10 pages, and a number of us were disappointed with the news as it wasn't clear what they meant. Maybe the club needs to re-visit who they have doing communication as it's not the first time they've made themselves look silly.

My youngest was mascot for the Wycombe Wanderers away game a few years back, he trained with the team on the pitch pre match, and the highlight for me was when 2000 Albion fans behind the goal sang mascot, mascot give us a wave, brought tears to my eyes. He is now 18 and is a season ticket holder next to me in the North Stand.

Middle son was mascot at the Stadium of Light, Sunderland on a freezing day a few years back.......another great day.

Those were the days when Paul used to decide the mascot on the Junior Seagulls coach on the way up there.

no mention of any plans to charge for away matches.

Hence my earlier comment about the possible need to improve communications/PR.

On the face of it, it is a good deal – 3x as many free mascots as before – but I still have my doubts that they will sell the other eight at £250 a pop (or seven and one @ £350) for ALL of the remaining games of the season. What happens then? Least popular players end up walking out on their own? Last minute replacements drafted in?

My conclusion: A good idea in theory that was poorly communicated to the fans, and has reasonable likelihood of demand not meeting supply.

My son was an Amex mascot last season and he received a full kit, a programme, three tickets in the East, three pie meals, personal visit to Mr Poyets office to sign his programme, a visit to the home changing room to, again, have his programme signed and hi five the players, get ignored by Ankers, knock up on the pitch before the game, have his name over the PA as leading out the Albion, walk out with GG, meet the officials, shake hands with the opposition (including some banter with Tomlin) and a free picture with his favourite player.

The value of this was priceless, the cost was free. Would I have paid £350 for the pleasure? No. I would have happily parted with a hundred quid or so and the club wouldn't be out of pocket. The priceless experience is formed from the match being around his birthday, the intimacy of the day and being the only Albion mascot that day. I don't disagree with charging but do think it is very expensive and slightly encourages elitism. I guess there will be some minted parents rubbing their hands together at the ability to buy a place.

I cannot see that the club will sell every 'oppurtunity' at the published rates. I wonder if there are any league rules regarding mascots. Will all 11 mascots partake in hand shakes? Or will those in the cheap (250) seats not even make it out of the tunnel?

Perhaps the club should have considered a buy into the lucky dip scheme, say £20 buys you into the draw for each home game for the season and have just two maximum mascots per game. With the rumoured length of the list something like this may yield more fruit than new scheme.

Mind you when we are facing Barca in the Champions League final in some glamourous European location.......................

the club do not appear to be doing themselves any favors with their press releases. they ballsed this one up, the loyalty points thing was another hash up and it took them a while to explain the travel subsidy on ST's. When does the transfer deadline close for press officers?

Poor value. My lad has been on the list and in the draw for 5 years - not a bean. We always hoped. Now at least he can have it if I want to pay.

When you look at what's included, there is an argument, as Bozza made that it's not a massive premium for the experience, however.....

My son (and me) eat, breath and shit Seagulls.

That means we are season ticket holders, so the extra seats are useless.

It means he has the kit (home and away, and will buy the new one as soon as it's out), so that's shit too.

We also do all the away games, the book signing stuff and look for any opportunity to visit the Amex shop between games, so we also are lucky and get some pics with the players.

It would have made his day to walk out to Sussex by the Sea with GG, but, although I can afford it, I cannot justify it.

But the chances of your lad being picked have just DOUBLED.

The paid slots, as you point out in a round about way, are nothing to do with you.
