Have to agree with those who mention solicitors. How can they sleep in their beds at night knowing they've got a guilty person off on a technicality?

as 10cc say, not in hove
The singer of Prefab Sprout once sang " you should never criticise a mans choice of job or woman " or something like that, I would be pissed off if I was Lokki at having my profession slated when quite likely the guy works damn hard at it to be successful for himself and his family, to then be told he is scum is bang out of order. I do not have a problem with people making a lot of money if they have worked building a career and taking exams and working ling hours , good luck, I do hate the get something for nothing people like the Gorilla's I saw getting out of a car clamping firm to look at the car park looking for someone who forgot to place the permit or something, wankers.

lokki works hard?

Teachers are great :bigwave:

In fact, just lately I have been giving serious thought to leaving the fire service and re-training as a primary school teacher.

Come on in! They love middle-aged retreads, especially those with uniformed service backgrounds. Just be careful that the Teacher Training Agency don't persuade you to change to Secondary....

About to start a Year 2 class, then hopefully move to a Year 1 class at the end of the year. It's a giggle, every day, but it's bloody hard work. Physical at the lower end, mental at the upper end, but really rewarding.

The only problem is the bloody parents who think they know more about their kids than you do......

Superb thread! Coming from a family of teachers I get 'the bait' behind this and more fool any of you for 'biting'. The one thing that really annoys me about teachers is that many constantly grip about how hard done by they are. MOVE CAREERS THEN! Nobody forces you at gun-point to do it. Actually, on second thoughts, some SE London schools possibly do these days..... :lolol::lolol:

It's true - some of the "16 hour days" could be greatly reduced by stopping the idle chit-chat about relationships, jobs, backstabbing, whining, arguing over whose turn it is to buy the milk, etc, etc, and just getting on with the planning and marking.

Coming from a job where personal administration and organisation was essential, I do wonder whether some teachers wouldn't benefit from being shown how to plan their lives. There is also a culture of "look how late I work", which doesn't help matters...

I'm not in the least bit jumpy about it and I dont claim to know more about teaching kids than they do, It's they're job and it's what they get paid to do. The bit that frustrates me is when I try and have an adult conversation with a teacher and all I get is someone half my age trying to talk down to me like i'm some kind of naughty school boy, And acting like they know more about my kids than I ever will do. On the whole teachers do a very good job but some of them need to realise that like the rest of us they are not 100% right all the time.

Absolutely.

We removed our son from his first school because of exactly this, I spent five months unschooling him before he returned to school at the start of the following term.

The phrase "far too much money" in relation to nurses and not footballers? Oh come on. When was the last time a footballer saved a life.
