Very weird.

Erm, in my estimation, the people who dislike all "teachers" as a group the sort of asocial socially-retarded lumbering Private Pyle-alike numpties who never QUITE fitted in at school - or socially in later life - or were brought up neglectfully by their parents - and therefore end up having a problem with authority which can later manifest itself in blood-shedding KNIFECRIME outside the school gate.

Blimey you are wasted sitting behind a desk all day answering the phone.

I see a career for you in Pschychiatry.

You dont have a clue what you are talking about. I have never heard such crap in my entire life.

My girlfriend is head of department and she is working on average 14 hours a day. This does not include marking books over the holidays, planning lessons, and all the over shit that comes with it.

It's the goverment that keep changing things, not the teachers.
For example this academy business is a real f***ing screw up. Did you know that teachers terms and conditions change under academies? My girlfriends school is being taken over, and over 16 teachers have now handed their notice in.

If you think you can do better, please by all means go up to a rough inner city school and teach 30+ kids from all ethinic backgrounds without trying to offend.

At the same time control a bunch of hooligans, that see fit to sling chairs across the class room at you, and make your life a misery on a daily basis,

Now do you want to be a teacher?

No. .................

.

i inserted an ellipsis to indicate the omission. my point was that satisfying a demand does not justify the supply.

So does asking a question justify an answer?

If you want to quote and compare a legal profession to that which is illegal that is down to you if you need to do so to illustrate the point. Seems a weak argument to me.

you need to have cash to play the stock market anyway. they sure as hell don't make life better for anyone who needs it.

The vast majority of pension funds invest in the stockmarket. Millions of UK residents have pensions, this is not "playing" the market yet it effects working class people up and down the country. Please stop spouting utter crap.

hardly. your point was that providing a demanded serivce was of inherent value. this is simply wrong.

true. i suppose it comes down to the fact that working class people often need to risk (small though it may be) their savings in speculating in the capitalists' playground that is the stock market, rather than the state being able to offer all people, regardless of class, a sufficient pension. this, while city traders can make millions in an afternoon, the sucessful result of their speculation being attributed their very speculation in the first place.

You inserted an ellipsis to indicate your omission ?
Well done you.

thanks.

Estate agents should only be derided for their continued insistance their profession does not need to be regulated, for this, they cannot be taken seriously as a profession, I do know many great estate agents who work damn long hours in a stressful occupation and are great blokes.

I hate the Ambulance chasing firms, they sueing culture and if anything goes wrong it is always someone else's fault and the building professiona rife with cowboys and traffic wardens and particularly the knuckle dragging car clamping amoeba who then hide behind a po box address. Wankers. oh and White Van drivers.

So your alternative to the odd city trader making a million is that we do not have any "stockbrokers"? Pensions, mortgages and insurance would all become more expensive to the working man in the street and the lost tax revenues from the profits and bonuses of traders means there would be less spent on public services. The working class man would be much worse off under this scenario.

no. my alternative to the "odd city trader making a million" (which is such a disgusting idea i feel like any alternative would be better) is that some industries are re-nationalised and run in the public interest, and others are regulated and taxed so that the state has the funds necessary to provide for proper welfare.

lokki, i'm convinced you know what you're talking about and do enjoy discussing this with you, but i've got to get some work done. whenever these topics come up in nsc, i lose an afternoon of work! i'm happy to grant you the last word, but politely request that we put an end to this, for productivity's sake.

No worries, you can have the last word as I find it quite sweet that there are people who still believe that this noble and idealistic approach will have any outcome other than turning the UK into Albania.

The singer of Prefab Sprout once sang " you should never criticise a mans choice of job or woman " or something like that, I would be pissed off if I was Lokki at having my profession slated when quite likely the guy works damn hard at it to be successful for himself and his family, to then be told he is scum is bang out of order. I do not have a problem with people making a lot of money if they have worked building a career and taking exams and working ling hours , good luck, I do hate the get something for nothing people like the Gorilla's I saw getting out of a car clamping firm to look at the car park looking for someone who forgot to place the permit or something, wankers.

Which profession is generally disliked the most ?

For me its teachers. I do a lot of work in schools and I have never met a bunch of people who whinge as much as they do.
Forever trying to scrap exams for children telling everyone that we are putting undue stress on our kids when they know the real reason is that with exams we can gauge how incompetant some schools and teachers really are.

Because they have left school, gone to college and then on to uni they have no idea of working outside of that enviroment.

Last week I had a teacher moan to me about how they had to come back 3 days before term re-starts in September of this year.................... And inset days ?

f*** me if only the general public could see what they do on these Oh so important times stolen out of our childrens educational timetables.

Right I`m going to work now and they are going to get it with both barrels if they start whinging again.

You talk out of your arse don't you?
