My point was that I don't think Thatcher or Israel supported South Africa because of Jews and gold. South Africa was a last bastion of "civilization" and free marketry in a continent increasingly overrun by self-styled Marxists lunatics like Ebagum (as Private Eye called him) in Zimbabwe and the MPLA in Angola.
