my only concern was the timing, as if they would have cancelled it at 11:30, I could have gone to see Exiles at the Madj, where we demolish Newcastle to go back top of the Premiership.

This is bent

People would moan if it was called off earlier and moaning when he calls it off an hour later.

Most people have access to the net, radio, tele or a phone to get the information about the game being called off

Bitterly dissapointed, was about 10 miles from Brighton when I heard the game was called off. Just turned round and drove home resulting in a waste of a tank of petrol and a Saturday afternoon when the better half could have had me re-decorating the spare bedroom.

One of many games of football postponed - large amount of fuss about nothing ensues. NSC, gotta love it.

It's the timing really (and false earlier decision) to be honest. If the game had been called off earlier I would have been quite happy not to travel down to Brighton on a cold day like this.

Because the decision wasn't till after 1' O'clock - I was already on the train and my brother and dad who get early to get a disabled parking space were already there.

I was told categorically by the club shop that it was on and there was no pitch inspection - this was at 11am
Luckily we stopped in at Currys and got the info from sky Sports News
Wasted day, wasted journey, wasted money

Fair enough, you have a reason to be upset - but locals seem to be doing a lot of moaning

We had a match abandoned at half time once when we were leading 3-0 and subsequently lost the replay at the end of season and missed out on promotion - the opposition played their first 11 in the replay.

Frozen pitches are not a big problem with the correct footwear and if you use your brain.

poofy refs just don't want to get cold if you ask me.

I'm behind you!
This is a cover up by the club because they feared a MASSIVE PROTEST by Ernest's ARS at half time, when he was planning to drop his trousers to Micky Adams and deliver a frozen fart in his general direction.

This has completely wasted his Friday evening which was spent consuming Guinness, cabbage and rotten eggs.

It's a disgrace, Knight must go.

In amongst all of the garbage written on this thread we find the truth.

The stands and running track should NEVER be declared unsafe.

It's all grit and buckets of sand FFS. How much does that cost?

There really has to be an earlier cut off to ensure wasted journeys aren't made.

Can you advise exactly when you think the cut off should be? Say we are playing Carlisle. Is it to be 10 minutes before you leave your front door so you are not inconvenienced or should it be 6.00am when the Carlisle fans are about to leave?

I suppose you reckon they should play with flat soled shoes and the game becomes a lottery. I'd rather the match postponed and I get to see a reasonable game rather than a players sliding around on rock hard ground.

It should be made non-subjective.

For example, the decision to play/not play a game could be based on, say, the BBC 24 hour (ie hour by hour) forecast for a particular town. Take it out of the hands of the referee.

Would be an easy thing to do.

The guy who sits next to me comes down from Reading (poor sod) and there was NO announcement on TalkSport until at least 1415... which is about 75 mins after the decision was taken. Not sure if other radio stations hadn't been told either, but they were listing the other postponements every 15 mins.

I was in the club shop approx 11.30am and they told me then that the game was 50/50...they said the pitch was frozen under the covers but the ref was stuck in traffic and hadn't arrived.
Fairly shocked, made way to Withdean and was met by friend ( ' in the know ' )who informed me that the ref had arrived, was quite keen to play but BHA totally against it. It was also interesting to note that there was no sign of the Northampton team bus ( suggest it had been ' tipped the wink ' ) and was parked up country waiting for confirmation.
From confines of the Sportsman watched the covers being peeled back to reveal frost underneath...This suggests that the covers are either useless or were laid on top of frosty ground...did the frost not lift at any time yesterday ?
There was also a strong story going round that officials considered the south stand unsafe.
