Man Shot Dead On The Tube

f***'s sake it's so simple

OK, let’s recap. We draw the gun from the holster, knock the safety catch off, there’s one in the chamber, and move and fire, and move and fire, and move and fire. The terrorist is disoriented from the stun grenade, he doesn’t know what’s going on. Remember the double-tap, bang bang. We have to neutralise the threat by incapacitating the target, we do that in two areas. The chest area here, anywhere down the central line, all the major organs are kept. We get one there, he’s going down. If you’re near enough, you can take a head shot. Again, he’s going down.

Apart from all "Govt " research has apparently shown that a shot to the chest and obviously through the body, that is through the likely place the bomb will be resting...will set the bomb off.

Plus the bomber may already be holding the trigger, that may only require a small pull. to set it off.

whats the point in shooting someone of your not trying to kill them ? you may as well chase him like a fiox and give him/her a series of stinging chinese burns !

if theyre not responding or complying with repeated requests and warnings AND theyre seriously suspect . . .shootem in the f***ing head so they die quickly,

its every British citizens (and residents) responsibility to play ball in the effort to defeat mindless terrorism, if you don't cooperate and or stand in the way then expect to pay the consequences, which, as its been made clear, are death. it was no different in the second world war when people came and bombed London

I've got an idea - when the police come across a suspected terrorist, why don't they ask him to stop what he's doing and wait a minute whilst we do a sort of referendum of the nation to see if we should shoot him? sort of like a phone poll...

that'll work won't it...

Or they could continue following any innocent non-white big-coat-wearers because they might have an explosive belt.

That's not the choice though, is it.

I don't want the authorities to be able to shoot people on the following grounds:
1 - race
2 - size of coat
3 - the police imagining he has an explosive belt
and finally
4 - running from the police

None of these reasons is good enough. I understand completely in this tense time that they can't take chances. But they did and a man died because of it. A man whose death people try to blame on terrorists. Nope. Police did it. Not good enough. Can't kill on guesswork and racial stereotyping.

I've got an even better idea - let's stop shooting innocent electricians 8 times in the head, and by doing so completely lose the support of the Muslim community who are vital in stopping the bombers

yep and I've got one too.....if you're in London or anywhere else for that matter and people run up to you shouting "armed police, stand still or I fire" just do the right thing and stand still and calmly raise your hands above your head.

....agreed in principle matey, but sadly the Muslim community you mention has done very little to stop the extremism in their midst for the last generation or so, why should they start now?

What you have failed to do there Irish is put yourself in the position of the officer on the ground, who is not responsible for the shit intelligence, and almost certainly not the decision NOT to arrest the guy on the street - and allow him into the tube.

Once he's there, however wrongly, the rules have changed. You are being told someone is a suicide bomb suspect. Very recently tens of people have been blown to pieces. He runs off down to a train when confronted. That officer is faced with the - in his eyes - remote possibility of there being a colossal intelligence f***-up, or the more real possibility of there being another catastrophe on his watch.

I'd say it's almost a dead cert the shooter faces no charges. Higher up, people should resign because as you say, it's been a disastrous episode in every respect.
