So now that we're running a daily death rate greater than the Italians ever reached and we're probably a week or more off peaking let's have your view on this country

This sunny, warm week in Sweden is going to turn into a complete slaugther in a few weeks.. Everywhere in Stockholm, by far worst off in the country, the people are crowding the outdoor seatings... apart for the plenty of ones now going everywhere around the country to celebrate whatever the fck we're celebrating at Easter.

My stepson lives in Stockholm and I am sad to agree that many there don't seem to get it. It's as if the Easter 'celebrations' (unsure why so significant) are far more important than absolutely anything else and a right that needs to be observed

Where are you getting your fake news from, Fox New?

919 deaths reported in Italy on 26th March, other daily totals in the 800’s?

I smell an agenda.

971 highest day in Italy. Due to the nature of our reporting it's overwhelmingly likely we are already past 1000 per day.

Agenda: to illustrate dangerous little Englander mentality presuming we were better than the Italians, and to eventually hold to account those who wasted the time advantage we had to respond to this pandemic.

Remind me not to take anything you post seriously from now on. :lolol::lol::laugh:

Italian figures are also way higher than quoted by their government.

Oh and "due to the nature of our reporting". Yeah because you can trust the Italian government and media to be reporting nothing but 100% FACTS, of course.

It's not a competition. I was merely pointing out that Italy is a massively corrupt and dysfunctional country. Which it is.

To be fair, I think most countries are. I believe that both France and the UK aren't including deaths outside of hospitals (care homes, home deaths etc) and I haven't actually seen any country explicitly say that they are including these in their statistics.

I suspect that true figures won't be known for a long time, if ever

Yes, I agree. I was highlighting the article, of which I'm sure there are many more, to show that we are pretty much all in the same boat. The French added hundreds to their total the other day for instance. Mistakes have undoubtedly been made and time lost. But now is not the time for recriminations imo.

Agree it would be a lot less effective a second time around, with more unrest.

If it means we end up staying in this initial lockdown an extra 1-2 weeks more than we really "needed" to in hindsight, so be it. It's worth it.
I agree. Personally we are not going to trust things when it is first eased either, because I think rushing for the crowded places will be a mistake. Better to give it an extra couple of weeks and see how things go.

UK defintely counts all deaths where Covid-19 is reported.

I consistently read that they are ONLY reporting deaths in hospitals, and not in care homes or in the community. Not one news source has suggested otherwise, unless I’ve missed something?

To be honest it varies so much its confusing. BBC just said deaths in hospitals where Corona virus been confirmed others say suspected some from dates over longer period its all so confusing if your looking for trends/curves/peaks or whatever
