Do people really think we're going to have a 2nd wave? Is it almost certain or just possible? It may even dare I say it unlikely if we do what government is telling us.

No sign of one so far.

I wouldn't expect one like that even if we stopped doing what the government tell us.

At lot of experts predicting that a higher spike will be coming in the autumn, and saying that the time now is to built up reserves of equipment, and facilities to be fully prepared to deal with it when it comes.

BBC stating that the R number according to SAGE is creeping up and is now between 0.7 and 1.0.... Not factoring in the relaxation in distancing either!

Aren’t we blessed in having so many experts, without whom we’d be in a right mess!

We may have won the battle but the war is far from over if the Spanish flu is anything to go by

its not flu though, we've responded differently, have generally better healthcare and pharmaceuticals in the pipeline.

Just a question, have I missed something, is it all over, as the way people are talking that appears to be the case?

Maybe I should uncancel my holiday for August, sounds like everything is going to be ticketyboo !

For all those thinking it's all over, London is almost free, and that there is no danger of a second wave:

However, claims there are now just 24 cases a day in the capital and that it could soon be free of the virus have been slammed.

There were in fact 49 people admitted to London hospitals with Covid-19 yesterday and likely hundreds of cases that did not need hospital treatment.

"I am extremely worried about the media message that London could be coronavirus free in days," said Prof Matt Keeling, from the University of Warwick.

He added: "If people think London is coronavirus-free that could be dangerous, and could lead to complacency, undermining all the struggles and sacrifices that everyone has made so far. A relaxation of vigilance could easily see R increasing above 1, and a second epidemic wave."

Clearly the current posters on this thread believe it is all over.

Go out, go about your business and enjoy yourselves. But please spare a thought for the what I have now discovered is 2.5 million people who are currently shielding.

In this rampage to get back to normal they are going to be the forgotten people...

Indeed. Two things on this:
-- the government is now indicating that the R-rate is increasing, moving up from their earlier projections of the range 0.5>0.9 to 0.7>1.0
-- for all those banging on about the economy, Sweden's isn't exactly performing wonderfully while Germany, which has followed and implemented WHO's advice most closely of European countries, is reopening its economy, Herr Tubthumper is eating out in a restaurant this weekend, and I'm going to watch some Bundesliga fixtures over the weekend.

Sage have included hospital and care homes in that data.

Take that out and get the general population which is much for relevant.

They are just covering up the disaster of care homes by lumping it all in.

When the government said that ‘No quarantine measures would apply to travellers coming from France at this stage’. I thought it meant that ‘no quarantine measures would apply to travellers coming from France at this stage’. The prime minister's spokesperson today has insisted that there was never an exemption. This statement, of course, has nothing to do with the EU insisting that we cannot apply one set of rules to one member and not another. Nothing at all.
