There are so many people with mental health issues over this, so let’s interview someone who says lockdowns are here for 3 years.

As you say today we had antibody tests announced wonderful news. Let’s stick to that for a day

I'm all for good news, by Christ we need some after the first months of 2020! Yesterday they announced this antibody test as being 100% accurate, yet on Wednesday I watched a report ( God knows where as I've watched so many) which was with a Italian scientist who proclaimed, " asymptomatic patients and those who have had only a mild form of Covid 19 do not produce antibodies " Who is right ????

Both.

If you have been infected I think you will probably have developed antibodies, but not necessarily depending on you level of infection. If you have developed antibodies this test would pick them up.

Not sure the percentage of people who do/dont?

This. The test is for antibodies and apparently is very accurate in correctly saying if they are present or not. It cannot possibly tell if you have had covid 19 and not produced antibodies.

“I’ve been assured there’s no problem,” the bureaucrat says.

“I’m telling you that there is,” Khomyuk replies.

“I prefer my opinion to yours,” he says.

“I’m a nuclear physicist,” she counters, adding, “Before you were deputy secretary, you worked in a shoe factory.”

I'm loving the quotes from the script that can be applied to Covid-19.

Is there a Chernobyl quote about destroying the economy, increasing mental health issues, and delaying vital cancer treatment for tens of thousands of people on the basis of dodgy, unverified projections and mass hysteria?

So lucky that we ran down the NHS to impose austerity. The same austerity that was launched by Osborne in 2010, who informed us that it would eradicate the deficit in the lifetime of the parliament. You do realise that the UK was still running a deficit when we were hit by Covid-19.
You have zero understanding of economics, but are very good at parroting drivel that's been planted in your mind.

Yep you’re right zero understanding of economics, I’ve only run my own very successful business for the last 30 years through several recessions.
Perhaps I shouldn’t make off the cuff remarks that strangers on the internet disagree with, my apologies and thanks for explanation x

No, because that isn't part of the plot.

Although the cancer cases due to reactor meltdown are integral.

I don't believe anyone railed against the evacuation of Pripyat and suggested shortly after they'd done it they should send everyone back to live there "for the good of the local economy".

In all seriousness, people like this need to be held to account too. Public enquiries should either focus on the scientists or whoever who make these ridiculous predictions/statements OR go after the "media" who make them public. It's shameful to try and scare people into paying attention to these things. This person is a total outlier in this doomsday scenario and should be ignored, but you know that they won't be. And there will be people who get on their high horse at people out for a walk because some fool believes that we have a minimum of 36 months of loneliness ahead of us.

Words matter.

I think we'd have to start by holding politicians to account for blatant lies first

I was speaking to a work colleague today as we are on furlough and after speaking to my boss who simply isn't going to reopen until it's profitable to do so for him, she said to me she is quite happy to take her chances of getting the virus if it means having her full wage again. To be honest I can't say I agree with her or not.

bit nosy....... how much is she on? :D

Trouble is, are they actually liars or were they just gulled by Prof Ferguson’s half a million dead bullshit?

Must admit I was at first, but they should know better.

Clearly the current posters on this thread believe it is all over.

Go out, go about your business and enjoy yourselves. But please spare a thought for the what I have now discovered is 2.5 million people who are currently shielding.

In this rampage to get back to normal they are going to be the forgotten people...

If the virus, as per current projections, becomes a very small problem with very few new infections, it will at that point be very low risk even for those who are currently shielded, just because the chances of catching it will be so low. At that point I imagine they may be able to leave their homes and re-engage with life.

Based on the current projections London could get to that point within a few weeks so possibly by July / August it could be a very different picture across the whole country.

I have just gone back to listen to the piece on Channel 4 news. I am genuinely baffled with your response. We live in a hugely wealthy, well educated and well connected part of the world, although it doesn't always feel like that.

On a global scale there are parts of the world, where the virus hasn't reached yet, inevitably it will. Even if we have a wonder vaccine next year and out of the kindness of their heart, someone provides it free to all the poorer nations of the world, it will still be a huge task to manage the process of vaccinating people.

I would sincerely hope we will have the virus under controls in this country well within this timescale. It doesn't mean we won't have the odd lockdown/outbreak. We may still face travel restrictions and bans on food/trade coming from areas where infection is out of control. The risk being reintroducing a mutation of the original virus, which we are not fully protected against. That will be the case until it is eradicated. Three years doesn't seem unrealistic.
