I’ve been thinking about this, and after @Triggaaar suggested that I shouldn’t be posting mouth watering food pictures, I thought “Why not?”. Especially if it can encourage others to enjoy food while eating healthier. Why shouldn’t you eat tasty food while trying to loose weight? Great food doesn’t have to be calorie laden. Here’s a picture of tonight’s supper, calculated at around 608KCal if you half the butter from this recipe and use skimmed milk:

Butter 20g 142KCal (half in the mash, and half frying the liver, onion & bacon)
Mushrooms 60g 12KCal (optional, not in the recipe but I like mushrooms)
Lean unsmoked back bacon 75g 160KCal (hey, use smoked if you prefer)
Maris Piper potatoes 165g 125KCal (or other floury variety)
Calves Liver 150g 200KCal (other animal liver’s available)
1/2 Red Onion 70g 28KCal (on reflection, white onion may have been better)
Whole milk 1FlOz 18KCal (In the mash. Use skimmed if you have no taste buds!)
OXO Cube - Negligible calories
Water - No calories that I’m aware of (I’m prepared to be shot down on this!)

Day 12: 16st 2lb
-2lb

But the inexorable rise from 15st 13lb carries on. Bread and peanut butter not helping. Today I focus. Habit change has not become established. Reminding myself I need to lose weight to help reduce my blood pressure.

PS I didn't want to post my weight today and considered massaging the figures. But this thread is all about accountability, so .....

Yes I agree, healthy food is good inspiration.

Got back home yesterday afternoon after 5 days in the UK. Back in my comfort zone now, so should be a little easier.
Nearest takeaway shops 15 miles away helps avoid temptation.

It was hard not to over eat/celebrate the win of the Albion on Sunday though. A magical day and was so lucky to be there.

Back on the 'quest' in earnest today and making as good an effort as I can for the Thursday weigh-in.

Anyone who has fallen off the wagon.....today is a good day to start again. No-one says you have to succeed the first time, or produce stunning results on Weigh-Day.

Onward and hopefully 'downward'.

After losing 15-16kg in 2months I thought this will be easy but since 28th October I’ve lost a measly 1kg. We were on holiday last week so did have a few meals out and more alcohol than usual (whisky rather than beer as less carbs). My excuse though is that we walked miles across Exmoor so I’ve actually converted all that fat to muscle that obviously weighs more!!

Mrs D7 has just ordered me a case of low-carb beer so i’ll see what that tastes like at the weekend

I was going to have the special pie (coronation chicken) at Amex on Saturday but noted on signs it was >200calories than steak and ale, so at least I’m thinking about it.

Down to 14st 2lb this morning, 6lb loss since November 1st, and the wife has asked "how much are you hoping to get down to".

I had to say I'm not sure, my current target is 14st, then I'm not sure after that. Maybe aim to be 14st by the first week of the New Year after the likely Christmas excesses!

Does my wife think I am losing too much, simply because I was a big bloke to start with. Technically, at 6ft 1in and 14st 2lb I'm still medically a "big bloke". According to the NHS 13st 7lb would put me into the "healthy" weight range.

The question really is, how much is too much?

It’s not just how much weight you lose, it’s how much healthier you are and feel, and how long it lasts.
I’d aim to consolidate a little and stick with the good habits - eat healthier and exercise more.
Well done so far!

That's pretty much the way I see it and what I said to my wife.

The aim is to make this permanent and maintained for as long as I can. It's all been about healthier eating and not about a diet as such.

I've always lost weight on diets, but invariably put it back on over time! This time, hopefully things will be different.

“Everybody has their own individual weight set-point – the weight that your brain wants you to be. If you’re lucky, your weight set-point is in the normal range.” Dr Andrew Jenkinson. I read this authors book Why We Eat Too Much a couple of years ago. This and a book by Chris van Tullekin changed my relationship with food. Hadn’t realised but Jenkinson released a follow up earlier this year How To Eat (and still lose weight). Lots of science….

Day 13 weigh-in: 84.7kg (13st 5lb), body fat 17.4%

Adverse daily fluctuations today - I’m up a whopping 0.5kg on yesterday! However I’m still a net 1.8kg down from day 1, so no need to panic yet 😀

Today I'm 12st 0lbs. Up 1lb since start, but 3lbs down since beginning of October so even maintaining around this level is progress for me.

Frustratingly still having problems with the scales showing different weights even though I changed the scales and try and do it in the same place. Will just have to carry on with doing it several times and take the most consistent figure.

I’m a the floor even? Maybe try another room if you have a concrete floor or something that would be perfect

Its a tiled concrete floor, but think it might be a bit unevenly done by previous owners. Have tried moving to different spots in same room but same problem so will try different room tomorrow.

Yes, and some of the key points are clearly picked out in that Irish story you linked. I think that summary is the nub of it and this brain battle is a tough one to win. I'd been successful losing weight 16/8 style but as my brain has learned this approach it's figured out to give me a continuous appetite to cram in as much (healthy) food as I can in those 8 hours (and my brain now lets me do my eccentric 16 hour fast appetite-free if it keeps me happy!). The informed numskulls are trying to push back against this shift but they aren't doing too well presently as I put weight back on. And as 2pm each day passes the challenger numskulls fill my head with eating ideas and even if I respond they follow up wanting more! Anyway, just wanted to say hats-off to all the frank posters on this thread - it is comforting to know how hard this is for others.....

Back down to 14st 8lbs yesterday after a bump over the weekend.

It was a bit lower than that this morning, but by an amount that I'd love to take at face value, but don't really believe.

To be frank, my scales are shite and only really good for indicating the direction of travel.
