agree that criticism of henderson is a little unfair, but a signing of a good striker on a permenant deal is just what we need, especially as henderson is certain to return when the reading manager thing gets going

Therein may lie a problem

If they can't afford his wages ... can we ?

When he left Brentford it was to move to the highest bidder (out of a reported 13 clubs)

Haven't got a clue what he might be on at Hillsborough - Dessie Boy ?

Well im sure we can as why on earth would we approach the player.
Still believe there is a few bob left in the kitty yet,so watch this space.:p :drink:

We are saving whatever it was we were paying Kitson.

Even allowing for the fact that we are paying Knight - is he being paid what Bobby was paid?

I reckon we could afford the wages.

according to ferret when i emailed him about a week ago, "the funds are available, its just a case of finding the right players"
i think we've found one then, so i cant see why money should be a problem(unless something dodgy is going on)

excellent news. Can we afford him?

The Wendy's top earners are on £4000 a week, I'd assume he'd be one of them as they signed him on a free when they were i the 1st Division.

Hopefully he'd take a few quid less in order to be back home in the South and away from all the Dingle Country whippet chasers ;)
All of the contracts were re-negotiated with Turner personally overseeing it at the end of last season, I would be very surprised if there is anyone there on more than £2000 now, although negotiations are still being held with some players
He is DEFINATELY affordable
Lets get rid of the donkey and get the 'Black Pearl' signed up NOW !

That figure seems a litle bit south of what I've heard - but I have no hard evidence to back up what I've heard - where'd ya get your info from ?

The Owls granted Owusu permission to speak with Brighton manager Steve Coppell but the striker has failed to agree personal terms.

if this is true then we are muppets, how often does a proven goalscorer get handed to a club on a plate

And from Yorkshire Today...

The Owls are now willing to release Owusu, who is halfway through a three-year deal, on a free but the biggest problem is finding a club who can match his existing wages

I'm told that Edna's figure is less than half of the real figure - which explains a lot

They get big gates, but they have obviously been spending beyond their means, which is why they are in such a state financially.

Don't worry if |Shughie, the beach boy and Jakey can get 15-20 between them to add to Knight's 30 then we should be ok. ;)

now now Sir Trigger dont go blaming Uncle Dick, we all know Owusu was on high wages and in good buisness sense we dont wanna waste all our avaialble wages on one player. OK so we could need him but he's not a nesessity, we have backup and the loan system to grab any other players. If he wanted too much then so be it...thats his choice, dont blame Uncle Dick :)

Owusu rejects chance to rejoin Coppell

SHEFFIELD Wednesday striker Lloyd Owusu has rejected a move to Second Division rivals Brighton and Hove Albion.

The Owls granted Owusu permission to speak with Brighton manager Steve Coppell but the striker has failed to agree personal terms.
His inability to find the net on a regular basis has already prompted Wednesday manager Chris Turner to sign Adam Proudlock from Wolves and Guylain Ndumbu-Nsungu from French club Amiens.
The Owls are now willing to release Owusu, who is halfway through a three-year deal, on a free but the biggest problem is finding a club who can match his existing wages.
Coppell is keen to re-unite Owusu with former Wednesday striker Leon Knight – even though the double act failed to sparkle with any consistency last season at Hillsborough.
However, Coppell was able to get the best out of Owusu during his time in charge at Brentford and has also been highly delighted with his investment in Knight.
Wednesday lost at Brighton last weekend prompting Turner to issue a stark warning to his players about the need for improvement.

Chris Turner was quoted recently as saying that some of his players earned "as much as £4000 a week", which he claimed was ridiculous for 2nd Division level. He then claimed that most of them would be in for a sharp reality check over the next couple of years as football wages in general go down.

That's my only info, so that's where I was guessing Lloyd's terms from. I was a little surprised at the time though that the Wendys top earners were on "only" £4k.
