Sadly, since then UK law has changed and going off to fight for a foreign entity against a state the UK is not at war with is illegal. Morally I agree with her, legally she cannot say that it is ok to go fight for Ukraine as a UK citizen.

And this is what makes her a poor foreign secretary. She should know this stuff. She's obviously not on top of her brief even for something which is currently really the only thing she should be concentrating on.

Apparently the Russians have singled her out as the reason for escalating their nuclear threat yesterday.

Not sure exactly what she said though!

I think the reason they did not name her and instead said British Foreign Secretary, is that British Foreign Secretary gives the impression of someone significant and whose words matter, whereas if they had said Liz Truss, most people would just think "why are you taking any notice of that idiot?"

Yes it's technically illegal but there's plenty of precedent for authorities not enforcing certain laws.

Macer Gifford was on the radio this morning, apparently 100s of ex-servicemen getting involved and he's trying to help create a pathway for them through Poland.

Ukranian Army won't take people without experience so that's a bit of a moot point. People get deployed based on their expertise

Army surplus shops reporting a brisk trade this morning, this is very much happening, legal or not.

Thank you for the update.... that's reassuring.

I was always sure there would be a good number going, but the UK Foreign Secretary should not be saying there is no problem for anyone from the UK joining the fight, when it is technically illegal to do so.

The sad atrocity for Ukraine and the entire planet, combined with the delicate nuclear threat hanging over us all, yet 16 pages..

It makes I larff

Since mid day yesterday, you have posted 7 times on this thread, and once on the Russia/Ukraine thread, and that was a one word post. Strange sense of humour you have.

I can see it now.

The Four Minute Warning.

Sirens blaring, people running and crying.

Check NSC.

"Bloody Boris, IF only Sir Kneel".

You have misjudged the mood badly, this time. Again

Fully agree. I suppose it’s what happens when people seemingly don’t have the capacity to bring anything other than a parochial outlook to a global issue and as a result their views become increasingly worthless.

That really is one of the most emotionally devoid responses to this monstrous event that I have read. You win the thread's 'vacuity' award outright!

I hope you agree and will give this comment the 'thumbs up' it deserves.

He has become the supreme champion of trivia on this site......

Erratic poster, to say the least. Not sure what to make of him. As noted above, gives posters a thumbs up when they respond negatively. Odd.

I don't know what is in his mind of course but I believe he thinks it's clever to give opposing views a 'thumbs up'..... deluded if not pathetic......
