Wolf Alice twice next week. Southampton on Monday and Bournemouth on Saturday. Bournemouth support is the excellent Best Friends, too.

Herr - I saw this thread on Drowned In Sound and immediately thought of you. 1 post in particular gives some good tips on albums that have come out of the SF Garage Rock "scene" Though I would say the essential Oh Sees album is Help but the ones quoted are good 'uns as well.

Sharon Shannon at the Ropetackle in November. Also very tempted by Hot Club of Cowtown, who we saw there last year and were top class, and Sigur Ros if there are any tickets left.

Looked pretty expensive to me when I first saw this.

Exactly. Would love to see Uncle Len live, but £84 for the cheapest ticket??! No way.

Instead, I've booked 2 tickets for me and my teenage son to see Eric Bibb at The Brook in Southampton on Oct 27th (a "mere" £22.50 each...)

If you like your acoustic guitar blues, with a soulful voice from the deep south, influenced by Dylan, Taj Mahal, BB King, Pops & Mavis Staples, Pete Seeger, Ry Cooder, Robert Cray etc etc, then get yerselves down there.

We'll be in our BHA shirts

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the stopover at Lewes with Mumford and Sons in July, is anyone else on here going?

I'm going to see Hot Club of Cowtown at the Ropetackle - also Eddie & THe Hot Rods. Saw the Move there last night and it was much better than I expected.

That looks genuinely rubbish! The rubbish music doesn't help, but the amount of people standin round looking bored is weird. Surely if you're going to pay all that money for a Queen tribute act you'd muster a little enthusiasm for their most famous song?

Who said anything about a queen tribute act? Was a Green Day gig and they just happened to play that over the PA between bands.

Very tempted by Eddie & The Hot Rods, though not sure Barrie Masters is quite up to jumping off speaker stacks these days ... :)

Am I right in thinking that the venue upstairs at Komedia no longer exists and all gigs are now downstairs? The downstairs venue if one of the worst I've ever been in - it's not very big but I genuinely couldn't see a thing. I'm not a tall guy, but the fact that they had TV screens showing the stage in such a small venue suggests it's a common problem - I've certainly never seen such a thing in any other venues of that size. I won't be going to any gigs there, unless they've improved it?
