But he owes R&D 30k. This is the sticking point. They are a bit miffed that he has not paid this back and deliberately went abroad for a couple of years so he did not have to repay it. He came back thinking he could now play again in England (hence all the recent publicity and attempts to find an English club) but discovered he could not...... This whole sorry saga look exactly like Leon Knight being Leon Knight, messing people about and getting a strop on, and blaming everyone else, when it does not go his way. It's telling that this has not happened to any other players.
Exactly. He's tried to pull a fast one, but has transpired he hasn't done his homework.

Personally I think he should be looking to blame his agent from 12 months ago if he had one - they take a slice for doing f*** all. The least he could expect is for them to understand that R&D retained his English playing registration.

And if he didn't have an agent at that time, then he should blame himself. Either way, he's a prick for throwing his toys out of the pram.

So, Leon Knight meant to email me, he emailed you by mistake as you'd sent him an email saying "is it really you Leon?" and now you're his agent?!?

Does this mean that if Leon could use a keyboard, you would be a football agent by now Bozza ?

If you're reading this Leon - what do the PFA make of all of this? I presume you have sought their help?

I think this says it all.

"If only Knight had listened to Zola's pleas that he stay behind after training at Chelsea in order to polish his technique alongside him. Instead such encouragement fell on deaf ears and a Stamford Bridge insider recalls how the Hackney‑born teenager used regularly to be seen accelerating through the club gates in his car as Zola stayed behind to hone the skills which had made him an international superstar."

LK had plenty of talent but even as a teenager he felt that he knew more than an international footballer. And it's been downhill ever since

To be fair to his agent having LK for a client must be a bit of a nightmare.

Last year I worked with Michael Duberry's brother and he told me that Chelsea had fawned all over LK and his father and thus his ego got to be a lot bigger than his ability, maybe had there been a bit more restraint when he was a kid he might have turned out differently, who knows ?

I can understand his annoyance, but posting it all over twitter? That's not going to do anything. Just showing himself to be an annoying little whinger.
To be honest I think he's just bored because nobody was talking about him, and because they don't really care about him.

Why does he owe them £30k? That was a signing on fee and they sacked him.

He was playing Pro Evo with 3 mates last night, a tenner a game and was £50 down apparently. Probably needs that £30k to keep control of his gambling debts.

So if you know the entire facts perhaps you will tell us.

I don't know all the facts but as I understand it from someone who is a STH at Nene Park, the £30k was a signing on fee. However, Knight also requested a Merc which they provided on the basis that he stays for two years. As is his nature, although the highest paid player, he was late for training etc and it got up the chairmans nose and he was eventually sacked. According to the club, they never got the cars back but according to Knight they did. The chairman has invoked the extension because he is pissed off and wants to get his £30k back. Knight will probably not play in England for another (wasted) year and R & D will still be without their £30k.

I'm sure there is a lot more to it than that but despite the fact that I have no time for LK, I think R & D are in the wrong.

There will be 2 sides to this story. I guess you're chosing to trust the word of Leon Knight with his track record against that of a football chairman who has no track record for this sort of thing.

I understand R&D demanded the return of the car, Leon refused to return it and told them to come and collect it themselves. So R&D reported it stolen. The car was collected and impounded by the police, with Leons Cartier watch in the glovebox or something.

Unbelievable immaturity on all sides really. Its like playground stuff, hard to believe these are the actions of fully grown adults.

Hard to believe anyone is dumb enough to keep a Cartier watch in the glove compartment of a car and believe its safe, I would imagine on your person (probably best on your wrist) or in a safe, in your home, sounds like more money than sense to leave items like that lying around.

So you know the chairman of R & D well do you? I based my opinion on the fact that the £30k was a signing on fee and that LK was subsequently sacked. Unless there is something in his contract that says he has to repay the £30k then R & D haven't got a leg to stand on and they know it otherwise they would have issued proceedings against him. As they haven't gone down that route then they are holding out for a transfer fee of, you guessed it, £30k. You don't need to be a genius to work it out.

As for the cars, LK says they were taken back by the Police and the R & D chariman appears not to be making any reference to these anymore. Easy 10 has got it right regarding the immaturity on all side.

So what is the wording in the contract then, if its weak a legal team should be able to resolve it quickly without the need for a national campaign in the media.

The police will only repossess a car if it is a TWOK, taken without the owners consent, and the owner of the car must have been able to prove this.

What a mess and repeated bad luck Leon keeps getting into, if only he could get this wrong resolved amicably without shouting about it in public, play for Darlington and show what a reformed and dedicated player he now is.

Well I will keep watching this space.

I don't know the wording of the contract but as I say, if LK is in breach of it, R & D would take recourse through the courts which they haven't done so for the past, what two years!
